Frequent diner here when I visit Houston. Never disappoints. The pozole as a side dish is a must as are the sweet and spicy brussels. Great brisket and smoked wings.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while since I pass it often. I got the two meats two sides combo plate with brisket, pork rib, sweet and spicy sprouts, and spicy braised greens.
I started off on the sprouts and finished them completely before even touching the meats. They were excellent, solid 9/10.
Braised greens were alright. They weren’t very spicy at all. Personally not a fan of the flavor profile, so I give it a 6/10.
Pork rib was just seasoned enough, maybe a tad too subtle, but tender enough to where I can get to the marrow if I wanted. 7/10. In fact, the rating directly translates to how seasoned the rib was compared to how I wanted it to be… 70%.
Brisket was a straight up 5.5/10… maybe my expectations were high looking at it. I liked the pepper crust but beyond that the seasoning pretty much did not penetrate the meat at all and also the meat was ROUGH. Not tender, kind of dry. The marbling did so much heavy lifting here.
Value… 6/10. I would say one piece of 2 types of meat for $25 compared to other bbq spots is a little questionable. Buuut that’s just me.
I liked the variety of barbecue sauces and pickled items, although I like my bbq sauces much more acidic/vinegary. Good but nothing to write home about.
All in all, decent for a neighborhood spot but if you drive out 15 minutes further I can name at least 3 spots that are better.

We are from the Rio Grande Valley,Tx and drove to Houston,Tx to visit some relatives. We came here for dinner. First time eating here. We were greeted by Tori who was super friendly & helped us when ordering. She was patient with us and answered all of our questions. The food was fantastic! We sat inside which was clean. They have an outside patio area to dine but we didn’t use the outside area. Great place to eat and great service, Thanks Tori for making our dining experience memorable.

Waited for person at counter to take order for person ahead of us, but she had a personal phone call that was more important so a rookie stepped in. When it was our turn, I had to make sure she understood our order as she was charging for things that were included and adding things that weren't. Eventually I was lucky enough to pay $40 for a sandwich and baked potato and two drinks and boudin balls. The sandwich was dry even with the overdone rub. The potato was good. The balls were nasty. Best thing on my order was my side - BBQ Dirty Rice, which was actually jambalaya with meat. They definitely don't know Louisiana cooking. Overall - Never again.
