Hostess made me feel as they didn’t want me there by telling me there was a one or two hour wait. I said it was fine , received the text where I was online and never got a text for a table. Will not recommend and will not be back.

I got the chicken fried steak, and it was amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the outside was very crispy. The gravy was the perfect consistency. I got the mashed potatoes on the side, which were very good. However, someone else at my table got the fried asparagus. It looked amazing, and I want to try that next time.

We dined at Saltgrass on a quiet Saturday evening for our son's 8th birthday. We planned a small mini vacation to Houston to see the Space Center among other things and he specifically requested a steakhouse for his birthday dinner. Saltgrass was walking distance from our hotel and being a Landry's establishment, I figured it would be perfect. We've never had a bad birthday experience at a Landry's restaurant before. I placed our reservation through OpenTable and specifically mentioned that we were celebrating our son's birthday in the reservation. This information apparently did not get passed on to the restaurant. So we mentioned this to the server and he seemed enthusiastic at first, wishing our son a happy birthday, and quickly took our order, but then the service disappeared. Literally. The food took quite a while to show up. We plan for this kind of delay and had activities for the kids to keep them occupied, but there's only so much bread you can feed them before they're ready for dinner.
When dinner finally showed up, our server was gone again in a flash, never checked back in on refills. I was never offered another beer, never refilled waters, never offered the kids another milk. When our server brought the check (without asking if we were done with our food) I asked if they were going to do anything for our sons birthday, and he said no, Saltgrass doesn't offer that. Really? A scoop of ice cream is too much for a little customer service?
I guess maybe I expected too much. It's not their job to make my kids happy, but you'd think a big restaurant like that would at least have a way to acknowledge a birthday....comp a dessert or something.....SOMETHING!
In any case, between the sloooooow service, the disappearing server, and the lack of a birthday touch, I was just overall disappointed. The food? It was OK. Nothing to write home about. Easily forgotten. All these reviews that say the service made the visit worthwhile? Maybe I was there on an off night. Oh well. Won't be back again.

My mom is very particular about how her steak...has to be almost perfectly cooked and it was not done to satisfaction the 1st or 2nd time she sent it back. Shawn, the manager, wanted to ensure they got it right and did they ever! Best steak she and I have had in years! Juan B was.our waiter and he took great care of us as well.

I was served by Juan H, remarkable gentleman and friendly personality. All the food came out fresh and HOT, the way I like it. Steak was cooked to a perfect mid rare, fried mushrooms were crisp and juicy, potato soup was full of flavor, and bread was so tasty. This was my first time visiting a Saltgrass restaurant and I will absolutely return. Thank you Juan!
