So disappointed! My husband’s meal was full of gristle and inedible. The “manager” replaced his meal, but I had to keep eating mine before it got cold. She would only deal with his. Then, of course, that meant it was my turn to watch him ear. Not the lovely, date night dinner we hoped for! Any manager worth their role would have done a better job.

Sat at the bar on a Friday night. Ordered a tall draft and an order prime rib with sides. The prime rib was perfect medium rare. Everything was served promptly. The bartender was friendly and working his behind off, serving the bar, helping servers with their orders, and answering questions for management. The only serious problem that I had was seeing the security guard vehicle parked in one of the handicapped parking spots when I arrived. As I was leaving it was still there, with lights flashing, and the young man in security uniform standing next to it playing with his phone. I commended the bartender to the manager and then mentioned that he should lodge a complaint with the security company and request that they not use customer handicapped parking.

OMG! Thank you, Saltgrass and our server, Ernesto, for such an amazing experience! We were in Houston from New York State for a wedding and figured ... while in Texas, order a steak! We were told by locals to go to Saltgrass, so we did. The thing is, we know NOTHING about steak. We don't ever cook it or order it. We explained our dilemma to our server, Ernesto, and he took as much time as needed to help us narrow down what to order based on the types of beef we've had and enjoy. Every single employee who was involved in our service was exceptional. The food was incredible. And the vibe was spot on. THANK YOU, again, to Ernesto and Saltgrass!

While in Houston in February 2026, we met up with friends who were staying there with family, and we mentioned that we wanted to try a good steakhouse. They brought us to Saltgrass, and we were certainly not disappointed. Even though we had been restaurant hopping all day and weren’t starving, my wife and I shared the Pat’s Ribeye 16-ounce steak with sweet potato fries. We added some blue cheese on top, just like we enjoy at home, and it was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare, the service was quick, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Our waiter took great care of us, bringing a pitcher of iced tea for the table. I also enjoyed the German Bock on tap, which paired wonderfully with the steak. The beer bread was another highlight—delicious and flavourful, though I purposely didn’t fill up on it before the main course. Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for dessert, but everything else made for a very satisfying meal. If I return to Houston, Saltgrass will definitely be on my list—hopefully next time, I’ll be hungrier!

I went out to eat on Wednesday with my wife and everything was great, up until it was time for the bill. When the waiter brought the bill to the table he wrote on receipt that for 20% gratuity it would be $51 for a total bill of $253. I always try to leave a great tip when eating out however this waiter named Michael made it seem like I had to leave him a 20% tip. Like I said I tend to leave good tips but the way he made me feel when he purposely wrote how much tip he wanted me to leave him was a bit uncomfortable.
