I moved to this area in 2018 and the Champions Forest Randall's is less than a mile from my home. It is convenient for sure when I do not want to drive further to another market. However, times have changed. This is no longer my first go to market anymore. I waited a long time to write this review.
Over the years, I started to notice how Randall's is taking a downward spiral for both quality of food, pricing and store condition.
Quality, there have been many instances when buying produce that items such as, tomatoes, avocado's, lettuce, fruits are old and too ripe to purchase. Even recently, the quality of the produce is very poor. Many other prepackaged items are expired and still remain on the shelf. The bread aisle constantly has expired bread. I've read so many post on Nextdoor of people complaining about the expired products.
Pricing - Randall's is by far the most expensive grocery market in the area. I remember when moving here that some people compared it to the high end grocery store of SoCal, Gelson's where I would sometimes shop. There's no way Randall's reaches the level of a Gelson's. Heck Randall's cannot even reach the level of a Joe V's, Kroeger or HEB. The pricing is utterly ridiculous, for example -
- two weeks ago, I wanted strawberries. Randall's had them for $9.99 a half container, whereas Joe V's had the same size container for $3.99.
- Eggs - three weeks ago, I purchased the Lucern 60 count box for $9.99. This week due to the incoming storm, they were out of the 60, and had a 18 count Egglands brand for $7.99. How is this even possible that they can sell an 18 count for $8, but yet a 60 count for $2 more.
- Old Spice Deodorant - I usually buy it at Walmart, but again, convenience of Randall's location. Same exact product is $11 at Randall's and $7 at Walmart.
Also, I used to be able to buy freshly made banquettes from the bakery, however, over the past several months, each time I go in there always out or the ones there are expired. I asked the bakery they're always out and was told a certain customer always comes and buys them all up on a daily basis. Why would they allow this to occur.
If this trend of pricing continues at Randall's they're going to price themselves out of business.
Condition of store - I have complained to the store manager on more than one occasion that the condition of the men's restroom it worse than any restroom I've seen in any grocery store. I get that when one is grocery shopping, they're shopping and not there to use the RR, however, there are times when the need to use the RR is necessary. The men's RR is disgusting, gross and should not even be open to the public in this condition. Sit on a toilet and you have to be careful not to tip over. It's just disgusting.
As of writing this review, I am now committed to stop shopping at this location until changes are made to improve items I've shared above. It's just not worth it to me anymore and the convenience does not outweigh the disappointments I noted.
