Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Many customers reported slow service, particularly in the drive-thru, with some waiting over 30 minutes for their orders.
Food Quality
Feedback on food quality was mixed; while some praised the burgers and specific items, others complained about cold food, incorrect orders, and low-quality ingredients.
Cleanliness
Several reviews highlighted serious concerns regarding sanitation practices, including improper glove use and unsanitary conditions.
Customer Service
Customer service experiences varied widely, with some praising friendly staff while others reported rude interactions and poor handling of orders.
Overall Experience
Despite mixed reviews, many customers expressed loyalty to Whataburger, citing it as a favorite fast food option, though some indicated a decline in quality compared to past experiences.

Overall, good. Went there after local football game so may have been busier than usual. However, management needs to review the worker's schedule. It's a small whataburger so limited staff. But while I was there on a Tues eve at 6:30 pm, one worker was behind the counter taking orders and serving while 2 other workers sat at separate tables on break. Keep in mind, it's very small, tables are limited and 2 workers took up 2 separate boths. Maybe stagger breaks? Was there for 30 minutes eating and the 2 workers were still at the booths when I left. The one guy behind the counter worked his rear off trying to keep up so kudos to him. Food was very good.

Terrible service. Everything is self-order through kiosks, and despite that, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our food.

I’ve made several visits to this Whataburger while in town for work, and each time I’ve noticed serious concerns with sanitation and food safety practices. Employees consistently wear the same gloves while taking out trash, handling money, and then immediately preparing food or handing out cups without ever changing gloves or washing their hands. As someone who has held a Food Manager Certification, I know gloves must be changed any time an employee exits the building or switches from handling money to handling food. Hands should always be washed before putting on new gloves. Unfortunately, those basic standards are not being followed at this location. On my most recent visit, I witnessed a manager using his personal keys to poke holes and open the shake mix — another unsanitary practice. To make matters worse, an individual who does not work at this location was allowed to stand in the kitchen doorway holding a live frog, and no one on staff said anything. While I was given a refund, this restaurant’s overall level of cleanliness and food safety procedures needs serious improvement and better management oversight.
