Ice Cream ShopCoffee Shop
We’re an old-fashioned soda fountain, ice cream parlor, candy store, and coffee shop. We make all of our own Purity ice cream, the first manufacturer of ice cream in Texas. You can watch salt water taffy being made, which is just one of the things we’re known for.

We stopped in while shopping and it was like stepping back in time, what a fun place!! We couldn't decide what to get with so many yummy options and ended up getting a variety of chocolates and salt water taffy's! Throughout the rest of the trip we talked about and enjoyed our sweet treats from La King's!

Love this place. Little expensive but me and my kids never go to the strand without stopping and getting ice cream or a shake every time.

We stopped by The King’s Confectionery on Galveston Island after hearing so many great recommendations, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The shop has such a cool old-time feel, almost like stepping back into the 1940s. Seeing candy being made by hand in the back made the whole experience even better.
The Laffy Taffy was excellent, and we also tried a root beer float. The gentleman helping us recommended the soda root beer, and it was fantastic. It was a little on the sweet side, but in the best way. Once the ice cream melted a bit into the soda, the float was superb. The ice cream tasted very premium, and knowing it’s homemade right there in the shop made it even more special.
We picked up a big variety of candies for the kids, and they loved all of them. We also grabbed some chocolates and truffles for my wife, which were a big hit. Before leaving, we stopped by the coffee shop and got a macchiato. It was small, strong, and exactly what we needed for the drive back home to Austin.
We’ll be enjoying these snacks and treats all the way home and would highly recommend anyone in the area to stop by. It’s a true old-fashioned experience, a blast from the past, and a reminder of simpler times when things were made by hand.
5 stars all the way.
