A True Hidden Gem: Whatley Wines Delivers Atmosphere and Excellence! Whatley Wines is exactly the kind of unexpected pleasure you hope to find when exploring the local wine scene in Fredericksburg. Tucked away off Highway 87, this hidden gem offers far more than just excellent wine -- it provides a welcoming, thoughtfully designed experience from the moment you walk in. The interior boasts rustic décor that creates a cozy and authentic atmosphere. The real standout feature, however, is their amazing wrap-around bar—complete with comfortable bar stools! This is such a rare and appreciated touch at a winery, making it a perfect spot to relax and converse without feeling rushed. It honestly makes you wonder why more wineries don't adopt this design. For our tasting, we chose the, Redeemed in Red Flight,” which was perfectly complemented by simple and delicious chocolates. The wine itself was rich and complex, a fantastic introduction to their selection. A major bonus is that Whatley Wines offers a full food menu, so you don't have to leave when hunger strikes. We shared the Peach Flatbread, and it was absolutely delicious -- the perfect pairing for the wine flight. Beyond the great wine and food, the commitment of the owners to honoring service members is deeply moving. The establishment is very veteran-friendly and features a dedicated missing man table to honor POWs and MIAs. This meaningful gesture adds a layer of respect and community to an already wonderful visit. Whatley Wines is a must-visit. Go for the unique bar, stay for the delicious flatbread and excellent wine, and appreciate the thoughtful, rustic setting. And bring your challenge coin or unit patches – Salute!

The staff was so friendly and informative about the wines. I can't say enough about their beautiful setting. They surprised my wife for her birthday with a beautifully made cupcake. Thank you all for your hospitality.

They have great wine! We liked the “missing piece” bottle the most. Owners are there most of the time as well. Also, they have a bnb behind the place people can stay. We are now wine club members! Can’t wait to go back

You must come out to meet Melissa, Chris, and Jen at Whatley Wines! We had such an enjoyable afternoon, visiting with the staff, tasting excellent wines (each wine has a meaningful back story), and being the 1st customers to try the season's candy/wine pairing. It was fun and we can't wait to return again soon!

This is a MUST! We come to Fredericksburg ALOT. Have been to Napa, Paso Robles and more…… this was, by far, the best experience! The food pairing is the only way to go! The attention to detail that goes into this is second to none! This will be a stop for every trip from now on! The passion Melissa has is wonderful and the deep meanings behind every wine are truly inspiring!
