Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customers frequently reported extremely slow service, with many waiting over 30 minutes for their orders.

Would give zero stars if possible!!
First of all they took over 30 minutes to have our food ready, Second they got our order all wrong, they put jalapeños in my daughters hamburger, ordered one strawberry shake and one chocolate shake and received both of them vanilla flavored!! Third we paid for 5 burgers and they only gave us 4!!! Employees here seem like they are just playing around and don’t pay attention to what they are doing! Where is the supervisor???

10pm, ordered to eat in, large combo, they took a long time for the food, I stated to eat in an they gave me a bag to go. I asked for ketchup and they said look in the bag and there wasn’t any. The fries were cold as well as gave me a medium cup, the only thing good was it was large fries but what’s the use if there cold. Unprofessional, I know I sit going again and tell others not to go as well.

One of the drive thru workers (African American Female) appeared inebriated. My husband and I waited in line for 25 minutes before getting to the speakers and there were no cars in the rest of the drive thru waiting for food. Just a couple cars waiting at the speakers to order and this female was not taking orders and had her mic on. I drove up and heard her giggling and what sounded like inappropriate acts. I yelled out hello since the mic was on and she clearly was not paying attention and she was slurring her words and gasping for air. We pull up to the window and she makes our drinks, still appearing inebriated and gave us medium drinks after just stating that we had large drinks. Had to wait for another 20 minutes for 2 meals. She came out to the cars she asked to park 3 different times asking if we had drinks and food, meanwhile she was the same employee who gave us our drinks and asked us to park. She appeared highly inebriated and should not be allowed to work under the influence. I will not be returning due to the horrendous service provided.

This was, without question, the most appalling fast-food experience I have ever endured. What was intended to be a "quick" 10-minute coffee stop during a Dallas-to-Austin drive turned into a 70-minute, mind-numbing ordeal that significantly delayed our road trip and left us with bitter coffee and an even more bitter taste in our mouths.
The Timeline of Failure:
10:35 AM: We arrived and placed a simple online order for a single coffee with milk and one soft drink.
11:25 AM (50 minutes later): After nearly an hour of waiting in the drive-thru lane without movement, I went inside to inquire about the status of our two-item order.
Inside the Restaurant: The dining area was practically empty, yet the kitchen was a hive of stunning inactivity. Employees moved with an incomprehensible slowness—a pace that would make the sloth from Zootopia look efficient. There was no sense of urgency or accountability for the massive backlog.
11:45 AM (70 minutes after arrival): We finally received our order.
The Final Insult:
The entire purpose of this stop was to get my mother a coffee with milk. After that agonizing wait, the employee handed over a cup of straight, black, bitter coffee—the very opposite of what was ordered and entirely undrinkable for her. This catastrophic failure of service and attention to detail negated the single reason we pulled off the highway.
The Consequences:
We left the restaurant 70 minutes later than planned, angry, exhausted, and having to continue our drive with a two-hour delay now looming over us. This stop was not merely inconvenient; it actively ruined the planned momentum of our day.
As first-time Whataburger customers, we are utterly appalled by this level of abysmal service. It serves as a stark warning to other travelers: stick to establishments that respect your time. McDonald’s has never failed us this deeply. We will not be returning to Whataburger, and I hope management reviews their staffing and process, as this location is an absolute disgrace to the brand.
