Ordered three drinks to get an idea of the quality of their menu. Unfortunately the coffee is overpowered by the sweetness of their syrups. You’re just buying sugar with a little bit of coffee basically. Their smoothies don’t taste fresh at all either. Disappointing overall.

I felt compelled to write a few after seeing quite a few negative reviews on such a new business. I’ve been twice to this location and both times service was great, didn’t feel rushed ordering and they made small talk with me at the window. Also offered my toddler a sticker. They also applied the $10 sandwich combo correctly for me and regardless it wouldn’t have been the end of the world if there was a little confusion as they are new !! I love the location and accessibility and will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, I have given this location three tries now to be disappointed at each visit. It’s unfortunate because I live right next to it as I pull out of the neighborhood. I was going to love the convenience. I used to bring Caribou home in my suitcase when traveling to Minnesota. I thought all my wishes came true when this one opened here. Not so much. The first time they couldn’t figure out the breakfast sandwich pricing so I paid $29.60 for two medium coffees and two ham and Swiss breakfast sandwiches. I was late for work so I wasn’t going to wait to figure it out. It’s took 3 people trying to figure it out. I have to get to work people. You trained with with six people two weeks before opening. The second time I ordered two hot mint conditions half sweet. She acted like I asked for this in Chinese. Half sweet. She says what is that? I said idk when I go to 7Brew, 151 and Starbucks I just say half sweet and it magically comes out half sweet. I’m not a barista but my guess is you use half the recipe of each of the syrups in it. The girl then goes do you want half chocolate or half mint?! I’m like idk … I didn’t stay up there and train with you guys. Ask your Minnesota people that came down here to open the store with you! So my mint condition came with no mint 🙄.Guess that was the half she landed on to cut out. Third, the people taking the orders, their speech is sooooooooo long and repeating the orders back and yapping on the drive thru speaker was nuts. I knew all about this lady and wanting this deal or that deal and we are out of this and how about that and oh just kidding we’re out that so try this and yes my aunt loves that blah blah blah. 12min for the only car in front of me to order and I listened to the whole thing. The recap and greeting does not need to be 20 minutes. AND to top it all off, this is the best! We reached out asking to do a fundraiser for Fossil Ridge High School where all of the high school kids in the neighborhood 30 feet away go. Marketing told us they exclusively do school fundraising with Saginaw ISD which is miles down Basswood. So let’s not support your local kids but the ones in another community?! Someone at Saginaw HS must be buddies with the franchise owner for a gig on grand opening. It sends a clear message to the local community…sorry you’re out of luck!! Make it make sense. It’s okay though Caribou, there’s plenty of other places that support our school. I can list 30 in a 5 mile radius. We did Canes and averaged 300 customers in 40 minutes the other night. 🤷🏻‍♀️. I sincerely hope this location gets it together real soon or they won’t last here. There are too many good coffee places within a couple miles. 7Brew has my business until this one gets it together.

I have loved Caribou for years, so when the Basswood Fort Worth location opened just a minute from my home, I was genuinely excited. I’ve shared Caribou with friends, recommended it online, and really looked forward to having a local spot. The Watauga store has always been a warm and friendly experience. The staff is patient, kind, and helpful. That kind of hospitality is what brings people back, not just the coffee. This week at the new Basswood location, I had two experiences that left me disappointed. Yesterday, they weren’t sure about honoring the drink and sandwich combo, but after checking the system, they did. I appreciated that effort. Today, I went again with my kids. We stood at the walk up window for several minutes in light rain. The staff clearly saw us through the glass, but no one acknowledged us or opened the window to say they’d be right with us. When an employee named A….. A. finally opened the window, there was no greeting or “thank you for waiting.” Instead, we were told firmly, “Next time push the button if you’re ready to order.” It didn’t feel like a friendly reminder. It felt like we were a burden for being there. I understand that people have off days and I don’t know what she may have been carrying that morning. But they also don’t know what a customer may be walking through. A simple warm tone or moment of acknowledgment can make a real difference. Customer service matters. People don’t just go to a coffee shop for coffee. If that were the case, a robotic drive through could do the job. People go for the experience and how they are treated. Right now, I would rather drive fifteen minutes to Watauga and feel welcomed than drive one minute to Basswood and feel like I’m an inconvenience. Truly, experience from even one person can impact many. Imagine if just ten people had a similar experience, those ten can multiply very quickly throughout a community. One person’s response can shape the feelings of both sides. I hope the Basswood location grows into the warm, friendly Caribou experience many of us love. I’m sharing this with the hope of improvement and not to tear anyone down.

I happened to wash my car across the street and didn’t even know this was their first day open! Run!! Don’t walk to try this coffee!! I got a seasonal mint mocha and the first sip tasted like it would be a great day!! Customer service was very welcoming too, but as a religious Starbucks drinker, this coffee blew them out of the water! I can’t wait to be back!
