Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

The burger was thrown together, so I had to restack and spread everything out since the condiments only covered half the sandwich. After a remake the sandwich was good, the onion rings were really good!

I usually have a great experience when I come to Whataburger and everything is made fresh when I asked it to be and my orders typically spot on. Tonight it was not and I encountered what we believed to be racism-not pleasant at all. Upon arriving, Daisha had finished taking a customers order and we strolled up to the counter. I sat at the bench and my wife stood at the counter to await our order being taken. Daisha walks up and states “we don’t have any registers open here so I can’t help you” and walks off. Just pacing behind the counter not being productive. Just watching everyone else prepare the lengthy orders for in house and drive through customers. A woman in all black who later identified herself as the manager approaches us 15 minutes later and asks if we have been helped. We state that we haven’t and we’re told we couldn’t be helped. She apologizes and immediately calls the same employee, Daisha- that says she couldn’t help us- over to take our order. Daisha walks over, is told to log in and takes our order. We had a specific order of a honey butter chicken biscuit meal- LARGE, replace the tender with the crispy chicken patty. No worries on the extra charges. This is the only night I get to stay up late working a long week just to get this order I’ve been craving for a few days now. They get the order placed and Daisha drops the fries. The fries were done about 15+ minutes before we were given that order altogether-asked to make it fresh. We were there for a total of 40ish minutes before Daisha has run away from the register, is called back to the register and FINALLY says “ayyo can you make this order bro” and the team she has in the back looked pretty busy as is. Why is she not helping her team or being of help to us? Once she says that all of the sudden our food comes out, not fresh so I had to request a refund. A man who ordered 10 minutes after us got his order, finished it and left before we could even receive our order….. we were the only white people in that place who were ignored, brushed off and just honestly hurt that we waited so long to be helped, turned away and then not cared about when all we wanted to do was get our snack on. The world is hard and this employee definitely made it more difficult than it needed to be. In a world that is so hateful over skin color why contribute to that? Racism is not okay in ANY form. The manager saw us immediately returning our food after tasting and witnessing our fries left for so long. She asked what was going on and we explained. She said that she would make it right if we stayed longer but honestly I was just tired and too upset to really even speak or wait. She offered for us to come back in tomorrow night on 11/12 to make it right except this is literally the only night I can stay up late every week and I chose to come here to get a favored snack we didn’t have in New Mexico. Not sure if I want to come back to endure another count of racism from Daisha or just get the fresh meal I wanted. I think we’ll just drive to Waxahachie from now on and see a movie since the theater is right by Waxahachies whataburger. I even brought my brand new bottle of honey butter to add to this snack so I was indeed disappointed in this experience. We weren’t crappy customers. We didn’t even bug Daisha when she had us wait for so long. We didn’t yell, make problems, nothing. We just wanted fresh food. If you don’t want to serve white people then quit. Because there are people of all colors, shapes, origins everywhere. We are all human beings who deserve to be treated as such. Keep the hate to yourself. Serving people is part of your job as it is many others.
