What is going on with this place? Any day of the week I can go in here and find expired milk / cheese / yogurt or rotting produce within five minutes. It’s getting to be disgusting.

I typically love this Albertsons, but tonight I ran into a very rude young gentleman behind the butcher counter. I turned around and left before my “teacher voice” made an appearance.

On Friday, December 12, around 2:30 PM, I visited this location for the first time while I was in the area to do my grocery shopping. I stopped by the deli near Starbucks and asked an employee where I could find the lobster tails. She responded, “That’s seafood.” I explained that I knew that, but was asking where it was located. She then looked at me confused, like I was crazy, and said it was at the seafood counter. When I told her I wasn’t familiar with the store layout and asked where that was, she simply pointed toward the back of the store and said, “Uh… back there.” She could have simply said “Oh the lobster tails are in the back at the seafood counter!” I did not appreciate the dismissive and condescending tone. I was simply asking for directions to the lobster tails, not questioning what lobster is. The interaction was off-putting and left a bad impression. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning. This employee had dark hair and dark eyeliner.

It’s been more than 90 days since I’ve received a solution to my problem at this Albertsons. It used to be the Albertsons my Grandpa loved to go to because it is literally a block away from our home. He and I would go to buy his favorite meats because he really liked them from Albertsons, and he always purchased them with his monthly allowance Nations Benefits card without a problem. This was a perfect harmonious way of life for almost 2 years of having the privilege for my grandpa. Then suddenly, from one day to the next, the cash register claims that “these items are ineligible.” Which was referring to the same meats we bought without issue for many months in the past. I consulted the store manager, who at first tried to help out but then seemed to play the blame game saying that it was the card issuer. I contacted my card issuer and they cleared up that it was not a card issue and that they never denied any meat purchases. After letting the manager know what Nations Benefits had said, he started to be somewhat apathetic about the whole situation and even went as far as to hint lack of care and blame because apparently “he had never seen this card before.” Making me feel as if I was trying to play one on Albertsons or something. I told him that this is a problem with this store and it needs to be fixed. He ultimately said he would get with his corporate fellows and get back to me. 90 days later and my grandpa doesn’t get to go to his nearest Albertsons and instead goes to a farther one off Mesa where hey! Magically the card works and has bought even a holiday ham for thanksgiving. It’s really unfortunate we can’t get this problem solved and in my opinion the staff at this Albertsons makes it feel like a joke.
