I ordered a custom coffin-shaped cake for my son's "Death to my Teens" birthday and even agreed to an extra fee for the custom shaping. The Timeline: • I arrived at 1:30 PM for a 1:00 PM pickup. I was told it wasn't ready and waited another 30 minutes while watching several other customers leave upset. • When the cake finally came out, the employee put it on the cart and tried to leave immediately. • I opened the box to find a standard rectangular cake with a red border—nothing like the coffin I paid for (see the first photo). The Service: When I asked for an explanation, the employee was speechless. Management refused to give me the name of the person who decorated it. While the manager did offer a small discount and some plastic toppers to "make up for it," the damage was done. I didn't want to be rude because I could see they were busy, but being busy isn't an excuse for charging a custom fee and delivering a basic sheet cake. The Result: I ended up going home and performing "surgery" on the cake myself—trimming the shape, re-icing it grey, and actually making it look like a coffin (see the second photo). If I knew I’d be doing the labor myself, I would have just baked it at home. Ironically, several guests at the party mentioned they had similar "horror stories" with this specific bakery. My son had a great attitude and laughed it off, but this was incredibly unprofessional. I paid for a custom service that was never provided. Save your money and go to a real bakery.
