Not sure if its the Texan hospitality from Sunshine, the great music and relaxing atmosphere, or just the incredible food. We got the beef brisket sandwich and it was just amazing. The meat was juicy and tender, the bun was soft and the sweet cream corn was perfect. We're only here for the weekend and wanted to try something new for every meal, but its going to be hard not to just come back one more time! Highly recommend!

Have to say I was disappointed based on the reviews and ratings. The brisket was average. It was dry and chewy and all of the flavor, which was OK, was in the bark. Reminded me of beef jerky. Portions were good and the prices are not outrageous, but I was underwhelmed. Maybe an off night. It's basically counter-serve, yet the tipping guide starts at 18%, which is off-putting. Not a ton of other options in the area, but I went in expecting much better.

If you’re hunting for real BBQ without selling a kidney to pay for it, Moak’s is your spot. This place is a smaller, no-frills, hole-in-the-wall kind of joint — exactly where the best damn BBQ always hides. The brisket? Perfect. Tender, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The jalapeño sausage has just the right kick, but the sides are what made me fall in love with this place. The fried okra is crispy perfection and the mac and cheese is absolute heaven — creamy, cheesy, and addictively good. Moak’s has the best prices I’ve found anywhere in Dallas, and unlike Terry Black’s or Hurtado’s, you don’t have to auction off an organ to get a plate. It’s become my go-to BBQ spot, hands down.

Maybe because I saw tables outside it gave me the impression that this would be a good spot to have a delicious 1st time bbq in Texas..MAN WAS I WRONG!!!.... first the cashier who in good own words "I'm a cashier not a bartender".. took offense to my wife asking a question in Spanish because he didn't hear her and thought he spoke it.. After that it was downhill.... The food was decent but they had the sauce separate which is fine but it was self serve so you had to life the lid off this incredibly hot serving container... Then we simply asked if they had beer because there was a bar and it looked like they may have served them PLUS A FICACTA SIGN THAT SAID HAPPY HOUR MARGARITAS $5.... That's when Mr congeniality stated he was a cashier not a bartender... Find ANYWHERE ELSE to eat not here

Get Robert Irvine into this place to do an episode of Restaurant Impossible stat. I stopped in on a Friday night around 6:30 pm because like other reviewers, the good reviews told a completely different story than reality. You would find more life in a morgue than this place. The entrance was dark and felt entirely uninviting. The registers, where you have to order the food, couldn’t be in a darker spot in the restaurant. No music playing, which made the space feel soulless and lifeless. The staff clearly would rather be somewhere else. No bottles of water (which would be nice when ordering the combo if you don’t drink soda), but they will give you a cup for tap water instead. No ice in the soda machine. The cashier did provide a cup of ice from another machine behind the counter. So that was nice. Now for the food. Do yourself a favor and go to the McDonalds around the block. At nearly $30 for the 2 meat combo, it was a shock to receive what resembled cafeteria food than what one would expect at a BBQ joint in Texas. The tray came with 5-6 small pieces of “moist brisket” that was incredibly bland and tasted like soggy water that’s been sitting around for days, a few small pieces of cut up sausage that lacked any flavor, and fries, that were the only highlight. For those that claim this is good or even great Texas BBQ, head over to Terry Blacks. While even that isn’t the best BBQ, it’s a stark contrast to this place and will give you a much better Texas BBQ experience.
