My husband and I came to Cafe Nubia for Valentine’s Day, our first visit, and while the evening started with some frustration, it ended beautifully. We had reservations and selected patio seating (I’m usually an outside girly), but we didn’t anticipate the heavy rain that night. When we arrived, the patio was completely wet and no one was seated outside. There were two hosts at the front — one petite with short hair who greeted us warmly with a genuine smile (her energy was amazing.), and another host who was a bit taller, beautiful girl but seemed more flustered and overwhelmed. Despite the weather, we were directed to sit outside (by the taller host) and told to pick any table, and that someone would possibly come out to help us. Standing there looking at wet tables with no guests seated felt off-putting. I expressed that it was wet and pointed out that no one was sitting outside. I was told, “This is where your table is. There are no more tables inside.” I even pointed out open tables indoors and asked if they were reserved. The response was, “I can check,” but the overall demeanor felt very matter-of-fact as if there were no other options. She didn’t seem to care at all even when Roni explained to her the obvious issue at hand. I politely but firmly stated that we were not going to sit outside in the rain. In that moment, it didn’t feel like there was any effort to adapt or problem-solve, which was disappointing especially on a special night. And then RONI stepped in! She immediately recognized the situation and said she would find us a table inside. Within minutes, we were seated comfortably. From that moment on, the entire experience shifted to five-star. Roni was exceptional, professional, personable, funny, and incredibly attentive. She handled multiple tables with grace and never let the energy of the room shift. We truly felt taken care of. That kind of service makes all the difference. The ambiance was beautiful, live band, amazing singer, great overall vibe. The food was delicious. We had the salmon and shrimp and the lamb chops, and both were flavorful and well-prepared. Perfect date-night selections. The owner also made his rounds checking on guests. When he realized we hadn’t received the Valentine’s rose, he personally corrected it and even added a celebratory champagne send-off. That level of attentiveness was appreciated. His overall vibe was awesome. The only small note would be that the restrooms could have been a bit cleaner for such a luxe setting , but it was a busy evening, so I extend grace there. What stands out most is how quickly the experience was recovered. A frustrating first impression turned into a memorable evening because of strong service and accountability. Oh and Valet was amazing as well!

the atmosphere was amazing, we had the entire restaurant to ourselves on accident lol (group of 15). Our families are from Liberia, Cameron and Nigeria so the feeling of home was in the building. The food was very good, hot, seasoned to perfection and on time. the drinks did not disappoint at all. majority had mocktails and younger adults had alcoholic. Hands down we will be back. Ding was a GREAT host/server and she added to the experiencein a very positive way. The photographer was not the best experience, she should have been open to options that we wanted if the pictures didn't have any discounts after buying 20, but we bought pictures anyway. We will not purchase/take pictures with her again.

Booked valentine package here for 2. We reserved table for 9:00pm. They had no tables when we arrived no clue why you pay for a reservation and dont get a table. Wife never got her drinks after reminding waitor 3 times. I never got a refill on water in 3 hours. Food was terrible they charged 60 bucks for a 10 dollar thin cut ribeye you couldnt cut with a knife. Wife sent her food back we had to leave and go get chicken. Terrible experience again wait staff did not care at all bar tenders were drinking and managers were no were to be found. Hard to support black own buisness when they dont care themselves.

The place was beautiful! The food was Beautiful! The service was absolutely horrible. My waiter did not fill my water. She did not even get me a straw for my margarita after asking 3 times. It took the manager to ask me if I was helped 3 separate times 2 before my meal was order and 1 after I order my meal. My drink was watered down before I even got my straw to drink it. I had a great time because of the live performance but I would not recommend this place because of the poor service. Please hire better waiters.

Decided at last minute to go to dinner with two other couples to celebrate the end of the week. With it being February Cafe Nubia seemed like a good choice. It turned out to be a great choice. We booked reservations and when we arrived we're seated promptly by our server Ding. We were there around an 90 minutes and Ding was patient prompt and polite. All of the food and drinks were very satisfying and served in a timely manner. The entertainment, Pughfunk was enjoyable but still allowed for audible conversation at our table. Everyone agreed that we will go back.
