I don’t usually write long reviews, but our experience at Einstein Bros. Bagels was so frustrating that it deserves to be called out. This wasn’t a small mix-up or a tiny inconvenience. Almost everything about our order was wrong, and the way it was handled made it even worse.
We went in expecting a simple, quick breakfast. Bagels and coffee shouldn’t be complicated. We clearly ordered specific bagel flavors, specific spreads, and asked for them toasted. Nothing unusual. But when our food came out, it was like they handed us someone else’s order entirely. Wrong bagel flavors. Wrong spreads. One sandwich was missing ingredients we paid for. Another had items we specifically asked them not to include.
The toasting was wildly inconsistent. One bagel was barely warm, like it had skipped the toaster completely. Another was so overdone it was almost rock hard. The cream cheese looked rushed and unevenly spread—one half overloaded, the other half practically dry. It felt sloppy and careless.
The sandwich assembly was just as bad. Ingredients were sliding out the sides, cheese wasn’t melted, and everything looked thrown together in a hurry. For the price they charge, you expect at least basic attention to detail. Instead, it looked like no one double-checked anything before sending it out.
The coffee didn’t help either. It tasted burnt and weak at the same time, which somehow made it worse. Breakfast is supposed to start your day right, not make you regret stopping in.
When we politely mentioned the mistakes, the response was underwhelming. There wasn’t much urgency or apology—just a quick “We’ll fix it.” But even after asking for corrections, one of the items still came back wrong again. That’s when it stopped feeling like an accident and started feeling like a lack of care.
The overall atmosphere added to the disappointment. Tables weren’t very clean, trash bins were getting full, and the pickup area was chaotic. Customers were hovering around, confused about which order belonged to them. It didn’t feel organized or welcoming.
What makes it worse is that this isn’t some tiny pop-up shop. It’s a well-known chain. You expect consistency and systems in place to prevent exactly this kind of situation. Instead, it felt disorganized and rushed without being efficient.
At the end of the day, we weren’t expecting perfection—just correct, decent-quality food. When almost every part of the order is wrong and customer service feels indifferent, it leaves a bad impression. For the money spent, the experience just didn’t match the price.
Mistakes happen, but how a place handles them matters. Unfortunately, this visit felt more frustrating than satisfying, and that’s not what anyone wants from a simple breakfast stop.
