The Sandwich That Tried to Fight Me (and the Other Two That Had My Back)
I ordered Subway through DoorDash on one of those quiet days when you just want something warm, tasty, and easy. I wasn’t alone—I should clarify that from the start. These sandwiches were not just for me (even though I definitely had a moment with each one). We ordered as a group, thinking, "Let’s try a little bit of everything and split it up." So, here’s what we got:
Ultimate BMT – Footlong, hearty multigrain, toasted
Hot Honey Chicken – Footlong, hearty multigrain, toasted
Oven Roasted Turkey and Ham – Footlong, hearty multigrain, toasted
First up: the Ultimate BMT. This one disappeared fast. Bold flavors, just the right amount of crunch, and it somehow felt indulgent and comforting at the same time. Like a warm blanket that’s also a little spicy. It was a hit with all of us.
The Oven Roasted Turkey and Ham was that dependable friend who always shows up when you need them. It didn’t try to steal the spotlight, but we appreciated its simple, clean flavors. Honestly, it was perfect for the one in the group who wasn’t feeling adventurous—just a solid, satisfying classic.
And then… there was the Hot Honey Chicken.
Now, I personally wanted to try it because I’d heard the buzz. I was curious. It sounded fun. It sounded flavorful. But I didn’t realize I was signing up for a fire walk. The flavor was amazing at first—sweet and smoky with that honey glaze—but the heat? Oh, the heat came in waves. Every bite got hotter. I started feeling like I was on that YouTube show Hot Ones—except no one was asking me questions, I was just sitting there trying not to cry into a paper napkin.
My lips felt like they were growing a personality of their own. Everyone took a bite or two, but by the end, we were all a little humbled. It was spicy. Not like, “I need water” spicy. More like, “Are my lips still on my face?” spicy. We were genuinely relieved we only ordered one. Any more and someone might’ve needed a cool compress and a pep talk.
That being said—it was delicious. It really was. If you love spice and can handle some heat with your sweet, you’re in for a wild ride. But if you’ve got health issues like acid reflux, blood pressure concerns, or you’re just emotionally unprepared for a fiery journey—maybe take a gentler route.
Overall:
DoorDash delivered everything fast and fresh, no issues. Subway nailed the toast and flavors. The BMT was the star, the Turkey and Ham kept things grounded, and the Hot Honey Chicken? That one told us stories we’ll be laughing about for a while.
5 stars for flavor, fun, and a little chaos.
Would definitely order again—but we’ll bring ice water next time.
