This was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in a long time.
Falafel – Cold, extremely dry, and completely lacking flavor.
Pita Bread – Served cold.
Combo Meal (Lamb Mashawi BBQ, Beef Shish Kebab, Eggplant Dip, Tabbouleh) – The lamb was cold and tasteless. The beef shish kebab had a strange texture, almost like chewing plastic.
Fried Mushrooms – The worst item. Cold, overcooked, and tasted like they were fried in old, dirty oil. Completely inedible.
Pita Bread (second order) – Again, cold.
Gyro Plate with Tzatziki Sauce – The gyro meat was dry and cold.
Baklava – Very small portion, dry, and clearly not fresh.
Nearly everything was served cold and lacked freshness or flavor. This was unacceptable in terms of both quality and preparation. Extremely disappointing experience.

A Rocky Start with a Tasty Finish at Leyla’s Mediterranean Café
When the gyro craving hits at supper time, you answer the call. A quick search led us to Leyla’s Mediterranean Café—just five minutes from home and, as it turns out, five minutes from a minor emotional roller coaster.
We pulled up to an empty parking lot, which is never the love letter you hope a restaurant writes to your stomach. I told myself, “If this looks sketchy, we’re bailing.” Inside was nice but I stood at the counter for a solid three minutes while the three guys behind it were deep in an animated conversation in a language I couldn’t decipher. For all I know, they were debating world peace or the correct ratio of tzatziki to pita. Either way, we were invisible… until suddenly we weren’t.
Once acknowledged, the vibe shifted. The gentleman who took our order was friendly, courteous, and ready to feed two hungry gyro-seekers. We both went with the classic combo: gyro, fries, and a drink. Five minutes later—boom—food.
The verdict
- Gyro: Tasty, well-seasoned, but could’ve used a little more meat and fixings inside. The pita itself was a bit dry and started to fall apart like it had emotional baggage, I had to grab a fork to finish.
- Fries: Surprisingly great. Perfect seasoning, crisp, and honestly the unsung hero of the meal.
- Dining room: Clean, casual, and exactly what you expect from a quick Mediterranean stop.
In the end, Leyla’s redeemed itself. After the slow greeting and the empty-room jitters, the food delivered a solid, satisfying bite. Not a destination spot, but absolutely a reliable go‑to when you want something quick, tasty, and close to home.
