Ate at Soul Shack last night for the first time. Had oxtail, greens, yams. Rice with black eyed peas and sweet potato corned bread. The greens needed some salt but everything else was ON POINT. The bartenders were great and I loved the atmosphere

We had a 7:00 p.m. reservation. We were seated and served right away. Our waitress Bella was very friendly, and took our orders right away. She brought out our appetizers and drinks immediately. Before we could eat our appetizers, our entrees was served. We bursted out laughing, because we had never been served so fast. Everything was hot, and delicious. Since it was my birthday celebration, I was serenaded with Happy Birthday, which made me smile. On our way out, someone named Famous came outside to thank us for coming out. We had a wonderful dinner. We loved the atmosphere, and the ambiance. They also had a Deejay! Music was nice.

The place was packed we didn't stay but the hostess was really nice and informative. They called an hour later to let us know a table had opened up, but we had already settled for something else. We will definitely be back.

I took my husband here for Father's Day dinner. I made reservations, so we didn't have a wait time. We were promptly seated and given water. Our waitress came to introduce herself and then gave us time to peruse the menu. The vibe was nice as they had low RnB music playing in the background until the singer came in to set up, and he was awesome! We ordered the Remy BBQ sauce party wings, which were hot and crispy. The sauce wasn't spicy but had a nice sweetness to it. They were overpriced ($14) for the size and amount, but they were delicious.
I ordered the oxtail and rice. The oxtails were a decent size and meaty. The rice and gravy had a great flavor as well. My husband ordered the lemon pepper salmon and garlic mashed potatoes. He enjoyed the mashed potatoes but felt the salmon didn't have the lemon pepper flavor, although it was good. We also ordered the Mac n cheese, which was cheesy and pretty good, and the sweet potato cornbread. I imagined the cornbread would have the sweet potato color, but it didn't. The cornbread had a sweet taste, and the sweet potato was inside the cornbread. I'd prefer the sweet potato to be pureed more so that it could be throughout the cornbread. We ordered two peach cobblers for dessert. The cobbler was decent, not too sweet or too much juice.
Cons—We ordered two drinks when we placed our appetizer order. We only received one drink, and it was after our food had come out. My husband never received his drink, so I ended up giving him mine. The waitress checked on it several times. After the third time, I told her to take it off my bill. We ordered dessert to go, and it took almost 15-20 minutes to get that.
Pros: Our waitress was welcoming and energetic. The restaurant was very clean and well-maintained. Zion Fuqua, the 18-year-old singer, did a fantastic job and had an excellent song list. The food was hot and flavorful, and the portions were huge.
