Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Some staff members received praise for their friendliness and helpfulness, particularly Virginia and Nathan, while others were criticized for poor attitudes and lack of professionalism.
Wait Times
Customers frequently reported long wait times, often exceeding 30 minutes, for both drive-thru and in-store orders, leading to frustration.
Order Accuracy
Numerous reviews mentioned issues with incorrect orders and missing items, indicating a lack of attention to detail in fulfilling requests.
Food Quality
While some customers enjoyed the food, there were complaints about cold or overcooked items, suggesting inconsistency in food preparation.
Cleanliness
Several reviews highlighted unsanitary conditions, particularly in the bathrooms and dining area, which detracted from the overall experience.

Virginia at the drive through window gave great customer service. A friendly tone and represented the brand well. Very impressed with her quick wit, verbal savy and polite attitude, even during a snowstorm. 10/10

Found a fly in my burger. Called to let them know and they told me to come back in for a refund or an exchange. When I got there the cashier kept smirking like something was funny and the guy in charge only showed up to override the register but he kept cracking jokes with that same cashier and didn’t even apologize. I let another customer know about the fly in the food and pointed out the countless other flies flying around the lobby and he decided to leave-smart man. The same cashier kept laughing about the entire situation. Hire better staff. Those people are a joke.

On December 15th 2025, I came into Whatburger after 6:30am to get breakfast before my appointment. Hailie R. had the nerve to ask me if I was wondering, and I said yes, that’s why I’m here. And she rudely says “well I have to ask everyone that.” I’m like ok lol so I placed my order and she had an attitude the ENTIRE time. I work with the public myself (at a doctor’s office at that) so customer service is necessary. If you hate your job or have poor customer service, you might want to find a new job. The receipt also said Hailie R. but if her name is not Hailie, just know that she took my order on December 15th, 2025 after 6:30am. Short mexican girl with black hair and a bad attitude. I won’t be back! This location had always been bad especially if you are an East Austin native girly like myself.

This whataburger is really good when you find the right time. I don’t mind a long wait when it’s in the AM, but I think management doesn’t do a good job at training new people. Like, why am I waiting 30 min for a bob when no one is around?

Always having bad experience with my online orders, order placed 20 minutes before arrived at store and always waiting 15 minutes more inside the store.
