- AMAndy MansfieldSep 17, 20245.0I first had Krispy Krinchy Chicken 7 yrs ago at an Athens, TX location. Best damn fried chicken I've ever had, and at 66yrs old, I have been around the coop, so to speak. I have been to several other locations since then, and it's all the same. About a yr ago I looked, and if memory served correct, the nearest to Austin was up by Temple. Just Googled again and am thrilled to see they have come to Austin, and already there are 7 area locations, two of which are less than 2 miles away! The only advice I have is pretty standard..visit at peak time to ensure it is freshly fried. (Dinner time). But don't wait too long. They will run out!
