This place has been under my nose for so many years but finally tried it out and it’s amazing. The lechon and pancit were our favorites. We ordered take out but next time will dine in.

The food is so good here! Sisig is delicious and good portions of meat and vegetables in the kare kare. If you’re craving Filipino food this is the place to go.

Kapatad is truly a charming hidden gem. The food was anything but flat or “whitewashed” - the flavors were vibrant, authentic, and incredibly satisfying. To say we left full would be an understatement. We’ve officially found our go-to spot for Filipino food in the Austin area. A special thank you to Jasper, Lindsey, and Rene for their warm hospitality and attentive yet unobtrusive service. From start to finish, this place checked all the boxes for us. We’ll absolutely be back - thank you, Kapatad!
Even though the name makes it sound like a coffee spot, it’s actually a restaurant — and the staff was incredibly kind. I went in looking to buy bottled water for my kids, and when they said they didn’t sell bottled water, they still went to the back and brought us water and didn’t charge us anything. That small gesture meant a lot. Thank you
Filipino food in Austin is about as hard to find as, well, quite literally anything. Luckily, we found Kapatad, and are very glad we did. Parking is easy to find with spots right out front and from the moment you step in you can feel the authenticity. In a city desperately lacking southeast Asian food, this was a huge breath of fresh air. We ordered for pickup and the process for it was very smooth. By the time we got back to our place we were extremely excited to dive in and try it out.
This place offers a lot of Filipino classics so we went with the pork adobo, lumpia, and fried rice. The pork adobo was amazing. The pork was seasoned so well with a hint of kick and the adobo being so savory, mixing well with the potatoes. Standout dish and competes with the best adobos we’ve had at other restaurants. The lumpia was also very good. Very long lumpia with a nice filling and crunch to the roll. It was so good we didn’t even bother with the dipping sauce. Lastly, the fried rice was also good. Unlike typical fried rice it didn’t have the day old hardness and had a nice soft seasoning to it. We also got white rice as a side and it was good, pretty standard.
All in all, Kapatad deserves a lot of recognition. It is the most authentic, and best, Filipino food we have had in Texas. To be honest, it’s better than a lot of spots in NYC or the Bay. It’s always nice to have spots like this keeping rich flavors and tradition alive. Whether it’s your first time eating Filipino food, or you miss the taste of your childhood, Kapatad is a place we think you will love.
