Probably one of the biggest produce sections I've ever seen. Central Market has hands-down the most impressive produce department of any grocery store l've visited. The selection is enormous and beautifully displayed - row after row of vibrant, fresh vegetables, greens, herbs, radishes, bok choy, and so much more. It feels like stepping into a high-end farmer's market with incredible variety and top-notch quality. What really sets this store apart is the unique in-house educational mushroom growing exhibit. Right in the store, they have a climate-controlled display showing the full growing process for gourmet varieties like Lion's Mane (mild flavor, similar to crab meat) and Black Pearl (dense, meaty with a peppery aftertaste). Informative panels explain how they recreate forest floor conditions using mycelium bags, natural substrates, controlled humidity, and light - with harvests possible every 7-10 days once mature. It's fresh, fascinating, and a great touch that shows their commitment to quality and education. Everything here screams premium and fresh. If you're a food lover or just appreciate an exceptional grocery experience, Central Market is a must-visit. Highly recommend - five stars!

I wanted to give a BIG shout out to the cashier, Ana G at the N. Lamar location. On Monday, 12/22, she went above & beyond to help me use a few coupons to the max available on our Christmas roast purchase. She didn't have to. I'd handed her the one I thought was the best to use, but she spotted the 2nd one in my hand. Told me that they could be stacked if used in the proper order. Considering it was already getting busy for Holiday shopping, it was very thoughtful and attentive of her to notice, and speak up. She provided REAL customer service!!

Purchased a strawberry rhubarb pie for the holiday. The rhubarb wasn’t cooked through. Again, the rhubarb was crunchy and stringy. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable and embarrassing. I shudder to imagine how much money they made on pies that were not even cooked to the most basic level. A frozen pie would have been better. I’ve also bought potato salad recently that also had uncooked potatoes in it. I value my money and I’m tired of throwing food away because Central Market won’t prepare very basic food properly. I’m not upset that the crust wasn’t perfectly flaky, the rhubarb was undercooked.

I truly appreciate this store but I will always call out poor customer service. I went in to purchase some of the prepared gift baskets to ship to family members out of state. The young lady at that register was very appropriate but said she was not the person who takes the orders. She called repeatedly to no avail. Another employee said the order taker was on the floor and went to get her. NO SUCCESS. Finally the young lady trying to help me got the order taker on the phone only to relay that she said she was behind in her work and not helping to ship after purchase. How very UNPROFESSIONAL of the order taker who never bothered to even come and speak to me in person after I stood there for 40 minutes. I will not attempt that again and am very disappointed in the dismissive behavior of the order taker.
