Always delicious, especially on a lovely cold overcast day! I get the make-your-own noodle soup bowl with Thai red curry, udon, chicken, and various veggies, and it always hits the spot (I realize this is an odd combo but hey, they let you do what you want, so why not). One of the few places in town that will let you customize your hot pot/soups like this, and I appreciate that they come in single (but large) servings so you and your friends can get different flavors. IMO most of the trendy hot pot places in town are crazy overpriced and the broth is not that good, but Basil Thai has fantastic broth AND reasonable prices.
I believe that the owner is usually the one waiting on tables as I always see her here. She is very conscientious and clearly cares if her customers are having a good experience. Only thing I will mention is that they do love to serve the soups at a nuclear temperature, so the first bite is going to numb your tongue if you're not paying attention! (kinda like this anyways, I hate getting served lukewarm soup)

Food is GREAT! HOWEVER.... The last 2 times I visited I got a bad stomach ache from all the oil they put in the food. Excessive amounts of oil which isn't needed for cooking. Also the food portions have gone down. Giving small amounts of food for the same price is ridiculous. Sooo sad this used to be our favorite spot to eat. We also sent some friends there to eat and the portions were so small. Very disappointed has the food used to be amazing...It's really clean in there. And the workers are very friendly. If they worked on putting less oil in the food and giving better portion sizes.I think their business would grow

I recently built my own hotpot with the tom yum soup base and beef, and it absolutely hit the spot.
The tom yum broth was the star of the meal—fragrant, tangy, and perfectly balanced with that signature combination of sour, spicy, and savory flavors. It had a refreshing citrusy note from the lemongrass and lime, with just enough heat to keep things exciting without overwhelming the palate. The beef was tender and cooked nicely in the broth, soaking up all those vibrant flavors and adding a satisfying richness to the hotpot.
One of the best parts of the experience was being able to customize everything to my liking. The ingredients were fresh, portions were generous, and the hotpot arrived piping hot, making it both comforting and fun to eat. It’s the kind of meal that feels cozy but still full of punchy flavor.
The restaurant itself has a relaxed, casual atmosphere, and service was friendly and attentive.

I picked up HP2 Lemon Grass Tom Yum Seafood and it tasted ok, but there were 3 or 4 clams that had not opened so we had to throw those out. The restaurant should have checked that they were boxing up the dish with open clams to make sure they were good.
Got E2 Green Curry with chicken and it was pretty bland.
Got E6 Ka-prow Hot Basil with chicken and I had asked for it to be spicy and it was not at all spicy, but it tasted ok.
Also got R 1 Drunken Noodle with beef and this was good, but again no spice to speak of even though the menu indicates it would have some spice level.
All in all ok, but nothing that would want me to go back after this first visit.
