Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
There are mixed reviews on food quality, with some customers praising fresh and delicious meals, while others reported issues with undercooked or incorrect orders.

The only complaint I have for this Whataburger is the restaurant is always freezing cold. I rarely go because it is so cold. I go to other Whataburgers instead when I travel and just don't eat Whataburger when I'm at home in Athens.

My husband and I stopped here, at the Whataburger in Athens, on our way to Austin for a wedding. The cashier was very nice, and when she accidentally delivered a different table's order to our table she was very courteous to the table whose food we had accidentally received. To be explicit, my complaint is not at all about the mistaken delivery. My 1 star review centers around green french fries being delivered to our table. It was not a single fry. There were several with green spots- something that indicates the likely presence of solanine, which is toxic. When I showed the manager, she seemed to listen to me but she seemed surprised that it was a health hazard- she said they always came that way. She assured she would "let them know." I don't know who "them is," or if they'd care. Well, sure enough, 2.5 hours later we had to make a pitstop in Rockdale because the fries were not sitting well with my husband. We were late reaching Austin. The thing that sticks with me is that the manager had said that they always come that way. That is not acceptable.
