Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

I stopped at the Whataburger on Collins and Washington in Arlington and witnessed something that probably should not have happened in front of customers. An owner or senior manager was counseling a night shift manager in the lobby about staffing and order times while people were sitting there eating. During the conversation he referenced a Google review saying an order took about 40 minutes and used that as part of his argument about performance and staffing. The manager didn’t really say much during the conversation and mostly just listened while he talked through the numbers. Regardless of the topic, those kinds of performance discussions should happen privately, not in the dining room where customers and employees can hear it. It puts the employee in an uncomfortable position and doesn’t reflect well on the store. If the data shows slower times even when there are more staff scheduled, that usually points to workflow issues rather than simply headcount. Kitchen organization, clearly assigned stations, training, and how orders move from grill to assembly to drive-thru can make a big difference. This location is also on a busy corridor where traffic tends to arrive in bursts, which can overwhelm a kitchen if the flow isn’t efficient. Motivation and incentives can matter too. Night shifts are typically the toughest shifts to manage, and expecting speed and consistency without giving managers the support, structure, or incentives to motivate the crew can make the job harder than it needs to be. The manager handled the situation calmly and professionally even though the conversation was happening publicly. Hopefully leadership focuses on supporting their managers and improving the process rather than having those discussions out in the lobby.

I honestly don’t even know why I went to this whataburger again tonight, but as usual it was a disappointment. I ordered two burger meals with hash browns and two drinks, along with apple pies. We were asked to move up after paying and receiving our drinks, nothing out of the normal so cool. I was already a little thrown off because the woman at the window swiped my card, then proceeded to stand there with my card & receipt in her hand while she talked to another coworker of hers. We got there at about 2:50a.m. And placed the order at 3:03am, And didn’t receive our food until 3:44am. There was some car ahead of us and one car behind. After having to go inside to ask about the food, the workers decided to have a debate about who was “off the clock” and who wasn’t. The hashbrowns hadn’t even been dropped until my boyfriend went inside to go ask if the food was done or not. They forgot the dessert and the apple pie we did receive was old and nasty. We asked for no ice in the drinks and still got ice anyway. The hashbrowns inside of the breakfast burger were OLD and that means our food has been sitting there for God knows how long. Like how long does it take to put two burgers together and drop hashbrowns? I’ve worked at whataburger before and this ain’t it! The three darker hashbrowns in the picture are the old ones that were on the burger. I will not be back. Last time I came by they had to offer free fry because they gave me an old one. The fries are always dry and cold. No sense of urgency. 35+ minutes to get hashbrowns ready and two burgers. The only thing they did good on was the Sprite. Got workers outside hacking and coughing cause they’re outside smoking, but you can’t get at least one person in there to stay on track and make the food properly? They need to shut this location down or find a better crew. If you want cold food and don’t mind spending money on it, go to this whataburger, anytime during their night shift. By far the worst location. UPDATE: Reached out to the manager, Robert, who was very understanding of the situation. He apologized and proceeded to have me come in so he could fix the situation. He’s very professional, very friendly, and I really do appreciate him hearing me out with my concerns over the night shift. Thank you Robert for helping us out!

Food is great but always takes forever. 1st in line at 11pm for some breakfast. Admittedly, I ordered 4 HBCB and a salad, so I can understand it taking awhile. That said, there were 3 cars ahead of me and as I write this I've been waiting 45min for my food...

Did curbside and my cup was leaking. Before she even handed it to me, she apologized and took it back to replace. FANTASTIC SERVICE AFTER 9PM
