Angie winners kitchen is easily one of the best spots I’ve tried for authentic West African food. I had the fufu, banku, and jollof rice, and every dish was packed with rich, homemade flavor. The textures were spot on, and you can tell everything was prepared with care. Definitely a go-to place if you’re craving quality, authentic meals.

I understand why the owner may feel defensive since there are quite a few comments about the service. I’m not writing this to make her look bad, but to point out areas that could really improve the experience. The food is good, but the portion sizes and service don’t match the price, and unfortunately I have left disappointed multiple times. The first time I came, the server questioned us in an irritated tone when we asked for kokonte, saying it “takes too long to make.” That was surprising because it’s on the menu. I still gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and decided to come back with friends. This time, we had a different server who was nicer, but the owner’s behavior was still concerning. One of my friends asked for water, and she kept pressuring her to order something else. Then when she brought the drinks, she brought coconut water instead without being asked. That was confusing and honestly unnecessary. Then the food… the portion sizes for the banku, rice ball, and kenkey were very small, especially for a group of people spending a total up to $200. It was barely filling. We asked for bowls so we could share the soups, and she seemed visibly irritated, saying she didn’t have enough bowls. When the bowls came, they were still wet, which just added more disappointment to the overall experience. The following week, my friends and I went to a Vietnamese restaurant and had a completely different experience. They offered a discount for combination meat, happily split dishes into separate bowls for sharing, gave generous portions, and even packaged our leftovers for us — and we didn’t even spend as much compared to here. I’m not saying this to be mean, but to point out ways to improve. I understand African food is not as widely represented and ingredients may be harder to source, but customer service really goes a long way! Listening to customers is what keeps people coming back, because word of mouth really is a form of currency. I rarely leave reviews, but as a Ghanaian, I really want to see this business succeed. The food has potential, but improving customer service and portion value would make a big difference.

I had the chance to try Angie Winners Kitchen Food Truck in Forney Tx on 3/31/26 and it did not disappoint! I ordered the beef stew with fufu, and it was absolutely delicious—full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The portion size was great for the price, which made it even better. You can really tell the food is made with care and authenticity. I will definitely be going back and trying more from the menu. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

I was there yesterday with my mom who is a stroke survivor. There was this lady in green who was so patient with my mom and I bc my mom isn’t able to speak after the stroke so it is a little difficult to understand what she wants exactly. Loved the food, portion size was a little smaller than what I was expecting for $25 and my peanut soup was a little on the lukewarm side but overall the food was pretty good and with us not being from TX, it’s hard to find good African food. Overall I’d drive that hour drive again just to get some more and hopefully my peanut soup will be a bit hotter and more full

Our first and last visit. The place was packed with no seating or direction from staff. After ordering spicy gizzards, meat pies, and kebabs and waiting 20 minutes, we were told they were out of meat pies—only because we went back in to check. My husband had to re-order the entire meal from scratch and wait another 20 minutes. To make matters worse, while a long line of customers waited for help, a staff member was just sitting there eating her own meal in front of everyone. Very unprofessional. When the food finally came, the meat was beyond overcooked and so dry it was hard to swallow. Small portions and a ‘No Refund’ policy meant I literally threw my money in the trash. They know that the quality of the food is not that great .Save your time and go elsewhere."
