Our group of 5 called ahead to make sure we could be seated. Was told it would be 30 mins. Np. So we headed there. Arrived at 720 was told we would be seated momentarily. We were finally seated at 750. Sat at table for a good 10 mins before server came over and took our drink order. Received our drinks and server took our order. Order 2 appetizers which came out pretty quickly.. waited another 40 mins before our food came out and it was barely warm. One of the party members steak was supposed to be medium and it was well done completely thru. That was taken off our ticket. The restaurant was busy when we arrived but it dissipated pretty quickly after we sat down. When we left there was only 2 other tables in the restaurant. We only got 1 refill on drinks and I was left out of that. Server gave one member the wrong drink when he refilled the drinks. The last time I came with a much bigger group our server was more attentive. But this gentleman must have been new. He was attentive to other tables but not us. My bill was $155 and the suggested tip was $35. I have no problem leaving a good tip if the service is good. But this time it was certainly lacking. I definitely won't be back especially in the evening time.

Outback Steakhouse in Abilene is one of those places you go to when you want a solid, comforting steak without any fuss, and the ribeye is easily one of the best reasons to stop by. From the moment it hits the table, you can smell that grilled, beefy aroma that makes you want to cut right in.
The ribeye is nicely marbled, which is exactly what you want from this cut. When ordered medium-rare, it comes out juicy and flavorful, with a good balance of tenderness and bite. The seasoning is simple but effective, letting the natural flavor of the steak stand out rather than overpowering it. Each bite has that rich, buttery taste that ribeye fans look for, especially around the edges where the grill adds a slight char.
One thing that stands out at the Abilene location is consistency when the steak is cooked to the right temperature. When the kitchen gets it right, the ribeye is satisfying from the first bite to the last. It pairs well with Outback’s classic sides — whether it’s a baked potato, mashed potatoes, or steamed veggies — and of course, starting the meal with their warm bread and butter never disappoints.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a good spot for family dinners, casual dates, or even a solo meal when you’re just craving a good steak. The staff is generally friendly and attentive, and they’re usually willing to fix things if something isn’t cooked exactly how you asked.
Overall, the ribeye at Outback Steakhouse in Abilene delivers a hearty, flavorful steak that hits the spot. It may not be a high-end steakhouse experience, but for the price and comfort, it’s a dependable choice when you’re in the mood for a juicy ribeye.

We went for dinner and were seated, but after waiting over 10 minutes, no waitress ever came to our table. During that time, we watched our server go to another table that was seated after us. We were there with our 5 and 2 year old, who were understandably getting impatient, so we ended up having to leave without being helped. Very disappointing experience, especially with young kids.

Went and sat in the bar area. Was a while before we were greeted where a server from another section asked had we been helped. Our server who was also the bartender seemed pretty clueless. Ordered steak salad and prime rib. Steak salad was great no complaints. The prime rib had a really sharp done sliver in it that when I bit down went right into my back jaw. Very painful. Manager came over and she looked liked I interrupted her lunch and said “I heard you got a bone in your prime rib.” I said yes it went right into my jaw. Her response “sorry about that. Let me know if you need anything else.” And walked off. No wonder this place is always empty. I have worked for Outback during college and this place is far from that. Will not return

We ate there last evening. My wife typically gets the same thing which is French onion soup and the Blue Cheese Pecan Chopped Salad. Last evening, the salad was not worth the money and resembled something a pre teen would present. It was a bunch of lettuce, some salad dressing and a few of the cinnamon pecans thrown in. There were no shredded carrots, red cabbage, green onions or blue cheese crumbles. The French onion soup was not nicely presented in the bowl. I got the coconut shrimp and said it tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. Very bland with no flavor. We usually are very pleased with the food but last night was a disappointment. The servers were pleasant and there was no wait time which was positive but you need to do better in the kitchen
