- CPChuck PetersDec 23, 20252.0Usually we like Shoney's. This visit was a waste of money. Buffet items.. fish, shrimp okra and other food was cool or cold. Shrimp was not crispy... outside was soft, inside was rubbery. Broccoli soup appeared to not have been stirred or refreshed in awhile. There was an unappealing crust on top. Soup had a burnt, old flavor. Un-eatable. Mashed potatoes and green beans were the only hot items I ate. The restaurant supervisor told me the food sometimes was like this during slow times. I guess they only keep it fresh during busy hours. While the manager was apologetic and didn't charge us for one buffet.... we still felt like we paid too much for such poor quality. We left hungry and disappointed. We will think twice before choosing Shoney's again.
