- JDJames DMar 10, 20261.0Chick-fil-A is widely known as one of the best run and most consistent franchises anywhere. That’s exactly why what I witnessed at the Memphis Airport location was so surprising and concerning. While waiting for my order, I watched an employee actively preparing food while wearing gloves that had been punctured by her long fingernails, which were sticking completely through the gloves. She continued touching food and food preparation equipment with the nails exposed through the glove material. This completely defeats the purpose of wearing gloves and creates an obvious sanitation issue. Anyone familiar with basic food safety knows that fingernails are one of the most common places bacteria accumulate, and gloves that are torn or punctured should be replaced immediately. Chick-fil-A has built its reputation on operational excellence, cleanliness, and attention to detail. What I observed here was the exact opposite of that standard. This location needs better management oversight and enforcement of basic food safety practices. Travelers at the airport should not have to question the sanitation of the food being prepared. I hope Chick-fil-A corporate takes a look at this location and ensures it is operating at the standard the brand is known for. I will also be forwarding this observation to the airport concessions management and local health department so the issue can be addressed.
