At Edley’s Bar-b-que we treat everyone who walks through the door like an old family friend. We pride ourselves with not taking any shortcuts in the kitchen. Our meats are smoked low and slow using Southern white oak. The sides are made from scratch daily with the same amount of attention. Everything is done with intention, from the food to the service to the music. We strive to serve the best food we can make and prove ourselves a worthy host—one plate at a time. Guest favorites include our brisket, macaroni and cheese, banana pudding, and our famous boozy milkshake, the Bushwacker. We are open lunch and dinner with a full-bar, and we offer catering for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate lunches, family reunions, and more.
The wife and I spent a couple of days in Chattanooga for a wedding and had a craving for barbecue. Edley’s looked like it would fit the bill: local-ish chain, interesting location in a part of the city we wanted to check out, and fair prices.
The place looks great, nice theme, lots of outdoor seating, and ordering at a counter like a real BBQ joint. Smelled good too, but it was pretty empty on a Friday at 6 pm.
The employees were very friendly, even giving us free banana pudding when they found out it was our first time.
I had good expectations, but the food disappointed. We split a full rack of ribs with sides.
Ribs were dry and tough and lacked flavor. They were not cut individually which is not a deal breaker for me but armed with only a butter knife to get through them it was a struggle. One sauce choice (good flavor).
Mac and cheese had the consistency of paste and mediocre flavor.
Backed beans looked good but just tasted off.
Banana pudding, last chance to pull up the score - just NO.
I would not recommend.

I have never had anything that was just ok here. Burnt ends are amazing. The pimento cheese and sausage appetizer is fantastic, and the Brisket is what I would want for a last meal if I were on death row!!

William was wonderful. Our family loved all of the food, but the ribs were not our favorite. William was so gentle and kind, immediately rectified the issue. They are fortunate to have such a caring manager. The rest of the experience was a 10 out of 10 for our family.

My friend and I visited Edley’s for lunch today, and overall, it was a delicious and satisfying experience. I ordered the rib platter, which absolutely did not disappoint—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and well worth it. My friend chose the catfish platter and shared that it was very good as well.
The only aspect that didn’t quite meet my personal preference was the coleslaw. I tend to prefer a mayonnaise- or salad dressing–based slaw, whereas theirs had more of a vinaigrette style. While it wasn’t to my taste, this is simply a matter of preference and did not take away from the overall quality of the meal.
This was my first visit, and I was impressed. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a great first impression!
