Unfortunately, not everyone treats delivery drivers with respect, but I truly didn’t expect that kind of experience at a Chick-fil-A. I was parked in the designated DoorDash pickup spot when a manager sent another employee out to question why I was there. From the start, the interaction felt judgmental and dismissive. I explained that my app was having issues, something any DoorDasher knows happens from time to time, but instead of understanding, I was met with attitude. I went inside to try to resolve the issue off to the side, and that’s when things escalated. I was approached repeatedly, around 10 times, by staff in a way that felt pushy and unnecessarily rude, all asking about my order despite me clearly explaining multiple times: “My app is having problems, please give me a moment.” It got to the point where I asked to speak with a manager, hoping to clear things up. Unfortunately, the dismissive and passive behavior continued. Instead of support or even basic patience, I felt brushed off and unwelcome. Delivery drivers are simply trying to do their jobs, just like everyone else. Many of us are out here early, working long hours to make ends meet. That day, I had been working since 6 a.m., just trying to make my next car payment. To be treated with such a lack of respect cost me both time and money. I’ve worked in the food industry myself, and I know how important kindness and professionalism are. That’s why this experience was especially disappointing. A little patience and respect would have made all the difference.
