I started calling everywhere hoping someone could help with even a small custom cake — just a simple picture of a cartoon she loves. I offered to pay extra if needed. Every place I called said no. I went down the list calling grocery stores and cake departments from Georgetown to North Myrtle Beach — even every Food Lion I could find — all declined. Then I realized I missed one store. That’s when I spoke with Heidi (I believe that was her name) — and she completely changed the situation. She was kind, professional, and most importantly she actually cared. Instead of telling me no like everyone else, she said she would help — and she did exactly that. When we picked up the cake, it was perfect. Exactly what we hoped for. It might seem simple to some people, but to a four-year-old little girl it was everything. Seeing her face light up made all the stress worth it. Employees like Heidi are rare. She went above and beyond when she didn’t have to, and she turned what could have been a big disappointment into a perfect birthday memory. Management should be proud to have someone like her. Thank you again for saving the day — we won’t forget it.
