I’ll preface this by saying it’s early and I was hungry, so maybe I was a little cranky. That said, this was still one of the poorest experiences I’ve had at a Dunkin….
We placed a mobile order and pulled up to the drive-thru, which has two windows. We stopped at the first window and sat there with no acknowledgment at all. No greeting, no “we’ll be right with you,” nothing. Since mobile orders are usually paid for ahead of time, we assumed the second window was for pickup and pulled forward. We then realized the second window wasn’t in use and that we should have stayed at the first. That was an honest mistake, and we fully owned it.
When we went inside to clear it up, we were met with unnecessary disrespect from a woman with short blonde hair…. the Karen haircut is fitting. All we did was apologize and explain the confusion, but her attitude was rude and unprofessional. In contrast, the other staff members were VERY kind and apologetic. They even explained that the person running the window is new, which we completely understand and respect.
What’s not acceptable is the way the situation was handled by the short-haired blonde woman with the karen haircut, who appeared to be a manager or supervisor. If that’s the case, the behavior is especially concerning. A simple acknowledgment at the drive-thru or a calm, respectful response inside would have prevented this entire issue.
Mistakes happen on both sides. Attitude like that doesn’t need to.
(Also, part of our order was incorrect, the bacon was a bit overcooked, and my drink wasn’t filled all the way. That said, it was busy, and mistakes happen. None of that bothered me nearly as much as the interaction with one staff member. The issue wasn’t the food, it was the attitude.)
