Islander 71 is a nod to the easy going beach life of the Isle of Palms in the 1970’s. Taking you back to when kids rode bikes freely, Dads drank beer on the beach and Moms sunbathed to a golden brown. Afternoons were spent crabbing on the dock, or catching Reds at flood tide. Dinner was a gathering time for friends and family to share succulent seafood and fruity drinks. Laughter and good vibes were in the air as the sky turned into a mango sunset. Welcome to Islander 71.

Brought family of 16 for dinner last night to celebrate the Holidays. Food was the worst I have ever had in Charleston. Snapper special ordered by 3 at the table was chewy, cold, not edible. Flounder sandwich - served cold and tough. Oysters - all batter. Never experienced this in Charleston before - usually eating out is an awesome experience - not so much here.....Just a real disappointment.
On top of the food quality, they tried to overcharge our bill $130.00 for a service fee.....which they did correct.

Food was mediocre, skimpy for price, but that’s what you expect; the environnement was great seating almost everywhere. Service was terrible, from the hostess at the door telling us she couldn’t sit us 10 minutes early with an open floor. The waiter just clearly did not want to be waiting, and it was evident when we got the check without asking for it; we were probably there for an hour. You’d also expect the service to be better with management sitting at a table next to us, but no.

We went this past Sunday. A few of us ordered the she crab soup and were all sick the next morning. I ordered the red snapper grilled and it was tougher than a bad cut of London broil. The hush puppies were rocks. The only thing that looked good were the crab cakes and Marsala dishes. For that price point I expected Better quality fish-food. The service and atmosphere were outstanding…. Would go there for a drink at the bar.
