Clean store, great employees and amazing customer service. Was in and out quicker because of it.

I recently had a very disappointing experience at the Food Lion on Main Street in Elgin. I noticed what I believe to be misleading pricing practices that left me feeling overcharged and frustrated.
One pack of chicken was labeled with a total price of $10.27, and the MVP price was listed as $7.71. However, there was a “Manager’s Special” sticker placed over it showing $9.24. That doesn’t reflect a real discount—in fact, it appears higher than the MVP price, which is confusing and misleading.
I also purchased another pack of wings that weighed 1.91 pounds at $5.49 per pound, totaling $10.49. The MVP price per pound was listed as $4.12, but it had been scratched out, which would have been $7.87 and the total price remained was $10.49 instead of being adjusted. This makes it seem like the discount wasn’t actually applied.
These kinds of pricing inconsistencies feel like bad business practices and can easily mislead customers. I expect transparency and accuracy when it comes to pricing, and this experience has made me question whether I can trust what I’m being charged at checkout.
I hope management takes a closer look at how items are labeled and priced so customers aren’t left feeling taken advantage of.

I went just to buy WIC stuff with my toddler, we’re very low on funds right now so I was trying to use up my WIC card so we’d have some groceries until pay day. I scanned everything like I normally do, I was very careful but I grabbed cucumbers & lemons and forgot to add it to my fruit & veggie total. I went to checkout and I owed almost $6. I didn’t have that since I was only using WIC, the cashier, bagger and the manager came over to help me see which item was over and found out it was the cucumbers and 1 lemon, I was SO embarassed but they were so very nice and patient with me! Thank you so much!

This used to be my favorite place to shop but here lately its became so miserable. I get no one wants to work, working sucks but we have to do it to make a living. If you choose a job that deals with costumers then you need to have a costumer service attitude and be a little more kinder and happier.
Lately some cashiers have not been friendly and if they cant be friendly then they need a different position to work. I came today to grab something for dinner and theres a cashier to check me out and she had her name covered, but the cashiers number is 0241. She was not friendly and didnt show any care to what she did. I usually use a grocery cart but I was only grabbing a few things so I grabbed a hand basket and had my two babies with me. I set my basket up, I usually unload it my self but I didnt even get a chance to and she picked up my basket and just dumped all my groceries unto the belt and then laughs and says oops. I had sodas that my children picked out to drink but we had to wait so they wouldnt explode due to how she completely dumped it, I had glass spaghetti sauce and im glad nothing busted open, along with hamburger meat that got its juices all over my stuff. I heard her tell the man in front of me shes been there for a month and I pray she hasn't treated people that way for a whole month and no one has noticed, then it came time for me to pay and she didnt say anything, she just leaned over and was quiet, so I used my common sense to go ahead and pay but come on foodlion?? Do better, teach costumer service and respect..
