  I eat very frequently from this restaurant and it doesn’t come to anyone’s surprise when I say that the food and atmosphere is excellent. It’s the perfect setting for any occasion from a casual brunch to a special dinner. In terms of food, if you choose to dine in or to get take out the quality is the same. I have never been disappointed! That being said, I had a somewhat negative experience walking in the other night. I checked online and there were plenty of reservations (there were slots to book every 15 min). When I walked in I was told the restaurant is fully booked and the wait time is around half an hour or we can sit at the bar… I walked out, went online and booked a reservation and we were sitted right away. This type of behavior would just hurt a business with such an amazing reputation. I would understand if this was a busy night, but this was not the case. It was a Monday evening with more than a dozen available reservations online.

  We were at the Waterman for Easter Brunch. We were also there last Easter for Brunch. We were a large party and all agreed that the food this year was average. There was nothing that we could say was outstanding. The "layout" of the brunch is a little awkward. For those seated upstairs they had to come down the stairs to get their food. That creates a bit of a traffic jam as people are standing on the stairs and there are people who are seated downstairs all trying to form a line to get food. The charcuterie items were just okay. Last year they had prosciutto, this year that was eliminated. None of the hot food was outstanding.. The desserts were probably the best part of the brunch. It would have been nice if there was some type of beef at the carving station. There was lamb which I don't eat and ham. For those who did have the lamb, they were unimpressed. A couple of weeks before Easter I went to another brunch in Massachusetts. That was superior and the price was less. Overall the food was disappointing. We'll probably be looking for a different brunch next year.

  My daughter's bridal shower was at the Riverview Room and everything was impeccable! All the guests raved about the food and the service. I cannot say enough good things about Waterman Grille! Alivia the Event Manager was a pleasure to work with - she thought of everything. Jason and Kendall who served our event were fantastic. The entire day was perfect and I can't recommend the staff at Waterman Grille enough! A must book for any gathering and definitely for brunch, lunch or dinner too!

  We had such a wonderful experience at Waterman Grille. The food and service were both exceptional. Our server, Noah, was incredibly personable and attentive, making the whole evening feel relaxed and special. Every dish we ordered was absolutely incredible. We had a bottle of Sancerre, the crab cakes, carrot hummus, sea scallop, crab chitarra, and mango sorbet, and each one was beautifully prepared and so elevated in flavor. Everything tasted exquisite and thoughtfully crafted. We sat on the enclosed heated patio, which was perfect for a chilly night. It was so comfortable temperature-wise, and we still got to enjoy the beautiful view of the water along with the lights from the city and bridge. The whole atmosphere felt cozy and elegant. We can’t wait to come back!

  Waterman Grille is one of those rare restaurants that balances upscale dining with a relaxed, welcoming vibe—and does both well. Set in a restored historic gatehouse right along the Seekonk River, the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. Between the waterfront views, exposed wood beams, and cozy interior, it’s an ideal spot for anything from date night to a polished dinner with clients.  The food is where it really stands out. The menu leans New American with a strong focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and wood-fired cooking. Dishes like scallops, hanger steak, and crab cakes consistently get attention, offering bold flavor without being overly complicated.  Service is generally strong—polished but not stiff—and the pacing makes it a good choice whether you’re there for a long dinner or a pre-event meal. The restaurant has built a reputation as a staple in Providence, even ranking among the top-tier dining spots in the city.  That said, it’s not flawless. Prices are on the higher side, and like most popular waterfront spots, it can get crowded—especially on weekends or around sunset.
