  Their service level was out of this world! One of the more memorable restaurants for me when it came to service. The staff is always paying attention to you and they do focus on the little things. For example, we ordered chips with dip and our waitress notices our chips were running low while we had plenty of dip left. She got us a refill without us having to ask. Came for a birthday celebration and they had a small card signed by the employees for me! The cocktails were amazing and balanced perfectly, not overly sweet and you can taste the complexity of flavors! We ordered the bouillabaisse for two and there was quite a lot of food. I think one area for improvement is some of the meat seemed a little overcooked.

  My wife and I visited The Mooring for lunch. Service was relatively quick, and our server, Irelynn, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. We were seated in a corner on the harbor side and the atmosphere was nice. We ordered the painkiller and salted caramel espresso martini to drink. The painkiller was less creamy than others we’ve had, but tasted fresh and was perfectly balanced. The espresso martini was more sweet than bitter, but not overly sweet with just the right amount of Kahlúa. For appetizers, we ordered the crab toast and scallop chowder. Both are exceptional and must-tries in our opinion. We had the seared scallops and filet mignon as entrees. The scallops were served with a creamy risotto which was perfect cooked and seasoned. The filet was a proper medium rare as ordered, very tender, and served with some very good mashed potatoes and asparagus. The Mooring is a definite go-to place for seafood in Newport.

  We had an amazing time at the Mooring Restaurant. The kids menu is the best I’ve ever seen. You can pick from ~4 options for Main, side, desert and drink, for $12. For adults, we shared the seafood platter for two (see image). Portions are generous. We ate at least two meals from this plate. The atmosphere was full of energy, chatter and laughter. We came back for dinner two days later!! This place is that GOOD!! We had an amazing time and we’ll return anytime we come visit Newport. Reservations are needed if you come on a weekend day. Thank you!

  The food here is incredibly fresh and high-quality. I came because of the reviews, and it did not disappoint—everything was delicious. The appetizer, the calamari, was crispy and flavorful, pairing perfectly with the banana peppers to cut the richness. I was also impressed by the oysters, especially the Rough Water—sweet, smooth, and delicate. The little neck clams had a great texture and weren’t chewy at all. But the best dish of all was their special: the spaghetti with clams. It’s honestly the best I’ve ever had. I just wish they offered this dish in New York!

  We sat at the bar and met Andy, an amazing bartender. After looking at the menu, and asked about gluten free items, Andy showed me a whole other menu. We were able to order apps and dinner without restriction. Andy let the chef know about my dairy and gluten allergy, the food came out fast and delicious. I asked to order French fries for my husband, Andy quickly advised me that there is cross contamination in the fryers. I appreciated that so much, as I’m the one with the allergy. After speaking with the manager Michael about what a great experience we had, he let us know about other restaurants in the area that were allergy conscious. They have made us repeat customers when we come back to the area.
