I ordered takeout from El Rey Azteca on a rainy, dreary day, and it was exactly what I needed! I went with the Choose Any 3 Combo (Tamal, GB Enchilada, and GB Burrito) and a Mandarin Jarrito.
The meal was pretty good for a 3-piece combo—the portions were satisfying and everything tasted very fresh. The ordering process was smooth, and the food was ready right on time for pickup. It's a great local spot in Wilkes-Barre when you want a solid, flavorful Mexican meal to go. I'll definitely be ordering again!

I had the birria tacos and they only give you 2 tacos! They were bland and in need of some salt. (They didn't have salt available at the table) The rice was good and so were the refried beans. I had their cake and it was bland too!!! Their horchata is good. Overall, their food is kind of a hit or miss. Something's are good and others are bland/missing flavor. For the money, it's not the most cheap nor most expensive, but I expect better for the price.
The decorations inside are cool.

We NEEDED tacos, con margarita, so we weighed our options - after pizza and Italian, I’d say our Mexican choices locally are solid - and bowed to The Aztec King. The perfectly salt-rimmed, on-the-rocks, original lime mega-margaritas were actually the ‘skinny’ version; meaning, real lime juice. It was a great recommendation by our waiter, and just a small upcharge. For the size of the drinks, the price was right (some of the food items seemed steep, though). We built a simple but fan favorite rundown of the Morelos steak soft tacos, Morelos shrimp soft tacos, sweet plantains and the Mexican street style corn.
My lovely fiance doesn’t like mayo (or eggs; I know, it’s rough but she’s great, trust me) so I typewritered the elote, enseguida. The plantains weren’t as gooey as I’d normally like, but they’re always a sweet staple for me, offsetting the salt-forward intro to most Mexican meals with the complementary chips and customary margs. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with a fun, vibrant energy; some might say loud, I say festive. It was the perfect midweek pick-me-up after a long, busy day. Excellent, kind and timely service, as well.

The workers are great, and the food is tasty. But the price doesn't match to the portions. They did away with there all you can eat birria tacos. It's like $17-18 for a shrimpy little taco.
