Service is very mid. Dirty utensils. Food is good most of the time. No consistency in service or food.

Ritters always had average food, but their low prices and 24/7 hours made them a respected pittsburgh institution. Recently went to find that they close at 8 pm (even on the weekend), the food and service have gotten worse. They're not even trying. I understand people are getting old, but they should consider selling it to someone who can improve the terrible food and keep this place open late like a diner is supposed to.

If this dump is what Pittsburgh calls “a good spot,” then the whole city needs to raise its standards immediately. I was in town visiting my son at UPitt, figured I’d grab breakfast, and ended up in a place that looks and smells like regret. The carpet alone should be condemned. It’s sticky, stained, and looks like it’s been absorbing disappointment for twenty years.
The waitress? Looked like life chewed her up and spit her out right onto the morning shift. Zero effort, zero personality, zero care. She vanished after taking the order like she was running from her past. I literally had to go get another waitress just to refill a damn coffee. That’s how bad it was.
We waited an hour — sixty full minutes — for a bacon, egg & cheese and two eggs with bacon. You could’ve raised the chicken and cured the bacon in that time. By the time the food came out, my appetite had given up and died of old age.
And the bathroom? Absolute horror show. Damp, moldy, smelled like the floor drain was hiding a body. Whoever’s in charge of cleaning clearly called out six months ago and no one noticed.
This place is a disgrace. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. If you’re hungry, do yourself a favor — hit Wendy’s, a gas station, or literally anywhere else. Pittsburgh, if this is the best you’ve got, it explains a lot.
