The appeal is the beauty of the main dining hall. The food met my expectations of absolutely delicious. First time at the Grand Concourse Sunday brunch. Tho expensive it was worth it. I loved the choices. The food station, carving station, and variety of food were unbelievable. I'm from Burgh, so what took me so long - right? Well, for sure, it's not my last. Stairs leading into the main dining hall is a stunning view. They had some of the original benches in the lobby, original bathroom, and flooring. It all made for a delightful, enjoyable dining experience. The only thing I did not care for was some of the smaller dining areas off from the main room. Those areas were too dark for me. The main dining area and the sun room are bright, full of energy and delightful

Used to love this place. Had a reservation for 12:45. Weren't seated until 1:30. The lobby was chaotic. Clearly no system for a wait/seating guests in place. No server response for a half hour so we asked a server leaving another table for three coffees. Food was good. Nothing to rave about. Gave our card/check to another server who we hadn't seen before when asked if we wanted more coffee. That server never came back with our card. After 35 minutes, I walked around the corner to see if I could find a server station. Three were standing there eating. I asked if one of them had our bill and card. One proceeded to say it was given back to us. They had to track down another server who ended up having it in their apron. I'm shocked the wait staff don't get more walkouts without paying because there is zero attentiveness.

While the food was delicious and our waitress was lovely and attentive, we will be thinking twice about returning to Sunday brunch at the Grand Concourse. We had a reservation for 11:30am, and did not get seated until 12:15pm. Zero consideration for those who made sure to arrive for their reservations on time. We stood in the cold entryway with our two little ones for 45 minutes before we could even sit down. I also could not help but notice a lack of professionalism amongst the hostesses: eating, on their phones, and not even making an effort to announce reservation names loudly enough for people to hear. We spent so much time waiting and on edge that we did not even get to savor and enjoy our food.

We were looking for somewhere new to eat as both my wife and I have never been here. We had reservations for 3p on Christmas Eve and arrived 30 minutes early. The place was packed but we were seated within 15 minutes. The space itself is impressive with a lot of the historical architecture still intact. We were seated in the enclosed porch area with great views of Pittsburgh. We read a lot of reviews and it was a 50/50 mix on the food. I didn't have high expectations but was hoping the food would be above average. Let's start with the layout of the food stations which were randomly staggered all over the place. The 2 main issues were finding everything and there was a never ending wall of people walking in to be seated going against the flow of people trying to get to the buffet stations. Overall the food was just OK, the highlights were the cold, hot and smoked salmon which were top tier quality. We didn't care for anything from the carving station and I am primarily a carnivor. I won't go into detail with each dish but the food was either mediocre, not cooked properly, under seasoned or had been sitting a bit too long. Also we felt there was some standard food stations that were just missing. I was expecting a large charcuterie area with meats, cheese and sides like olives, pickles, peppers and other veg. In addition a nice selection of crackers. The only available option was 3 generic cubed cheeses and 1 cracker similar to matzo. There was also a lack of any good bread, just some generic rolls. The desserts were all equally generic with 1 or 2 exceptions. A simple coffee station would have been nice as service was slow because of the volume of traffic, not the servers fault. We each ordered a cocktail but couldn't taste any alcohol. We looked online at the previous Easter buffet which was priced at $60 a person. This Buffet was $67 not including drinks and tip. Even though it was a buffet style service we left a generous tip. After it was all said and done we spent well over $100 per person. It's a one and done for us, it was worth experiencing but only once.

My husband and I had been to this restaurant 2 times before and found it to be beautiful with delicious food and good service. We love sitting in the side dining room with the great view of the city. But last night, we decided to bring our daughters because we had tickets for the Nutcracker and as part of the holiday season wanted to treat them to what was a beautiful restaurant and experience the other times we had went. We made reservations for 5, but arrived early around 4:35 and offered to sit in the bar to wait, but they sat us immediately. We were greeted by a friendly waiter, who took our drink and appetizer orders. We then waited roughly 20 mins for drinks, but no problem as we were assuming they were busy. So when he dropped off the drinks we had waited a while for, we asked him to just ring us in another round since they were taking a while so we wouldn’t go empty. We still went empty, we waited an hour for our calamari appetizers. Our drinks were empty most of this time. My daughters and I ordered the twilight special, where you chose an app a dinner and an entree, we chose salads and my husband added a salad on his meal, and those salads showed up almost an hour and 20 minutes later. When the clock hit 6:20, we sat down at 4:35 and ordered at 4:45, we realized that we wouldn’t have time to wait for our food, as our tickets were for a show at 7. Mind you, through all of this although our server was friendly when he did come over, our server didn’t say a word to us about our dinner taking nearly 2 hours, he avoided the table actually. So I knew I’d have to go find a manager to help me because our server wasn’t coming back. And we had no communication from him as far as what happened with our food, even as a table that arrived 45 minutes after us ate and left, he never acknowledged the problem to us. He may have even had a section elsewhere as he wasn’t even close enough for me to see. So I went searching for a manager, found one. Explained the situation, that we had been there close to 2 hours, hadn’t gotten our food and couldn’t find our server to ask. So the manager took off the food we didn’t get. Which normally would make sense, however, none of us even ate half of our salads (that took an hour and 20 minutes to get) because we thought we should save room for a dinner that never came. And we didn’t get to have cold drinks, because we had to order 2 at a time to attempt to keep drinks around since he wasn’t coming back much. Our daughters soda stayed empty the entire time, not one refill. So we paid $15 to park, $120 to eat. Which included warm drinks for some, an empty soda for one of us, and 4 salads that none of us even finished to save room for dinner that didn’t come. We went to ballet hungry, barely made it on time, left early because my youngest daughter was to hungry since we didn’t eat dinner. On top of that, the valet, who was so kind, asked my husband how our meal was while I was running around the restaurant looking for someone to pay, when my husband says we never got to eat the valet said oh no you guys were the first ones here tell the manager! Well we did, and still got to pay to leave hungry and irritated. The best part of all is the sever saw me with the manager at the computer, and i told him we were there nearly 2 hours without food and we couldn’t wait any longer we had to leave, the server said ok. But then as my husband and kids waited outside, I stood at the table for 5 minutes waiting for him to come let me pay, never came over. So I had to go up front to pay with the hostess. So to sum it up, $120 for food and $15 to park, left hungry. I know this place is expensive, and from the previous 2 times here it was worth it. But last night was not only disappointing, but unacceptable. To run around a restaurant looking for someone to pay for the worst dining experience made it worse. I tried to contact the business email, but couldn’t find one. If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy dinner, maybe try another restaurant that can keep up, or will make it right if mistakes happen.
