We ordered Momos combo (we loved the beef one) plus two veg momos were on the house’; beef shatrak (amazing!); chicken fried rice (very flavorful!); and chicken curry & the server suggested to get the buns to have it with the chicken curry which was great! Ambience was also calm & quiet. Definitely going back again!

Beef shatrak felt saltier than usual. Amount of string beans felt scanty for the price. Momo firecracker was excellent. My family would dine at the restaurant instead of having meals delivered if the reservation is available for a group of 3. Thanks.

Honest Review – Good Food, But Disappointing Gratuity Policy The food was served hot, fresh, and on time. The ambiance was decent and the service was generally good. However, I felt the pricing was a bit high compared to the portion size and overall quality. What really disappointed me was the experience at the counter regarding gratuity. We were a group of four, and the staff attempted to add a mandatory 18% gratuity to the bill. When I asked about it, I was told it was their policy. After I explained that Pennsylvania law does not require mandatory gratuity for small groups and that such charges should be clearly disclosed on the menu or in the restaurant, the explanation changed. I was then told, “it’s okay if you don’t want to tip the server who served you very hardly,” which felt inappropriate and guilt-driven. In the end she changed the bill though. To be clear, I am not against tipping. I appreciate good service and tip accordingly. However, gratuity should remain the customer’s choice unless clearly stated beforehand. Pressuring customers or making them feel obligated is not right. Overall, the food was good, but the forced gratuity approach left a negative impression and felt unnecessary and greedy.

The food was beyond delicious, the restaurant smelled so good too, everytime I saw a plate go by I wanted to try it.. I went with 3 friends, we all got different meals and then split the Momo’s. I cannot even begin to express how delicious the sauce for the Momo’s is. This is the first time we went out together and not one takeout box was had. We ate everything, barely talked and cannot wait to go back again!

My fiancé and I went to White Yak on 1/18 as we had heard so many great things about the food, and having eaten at solid Tibetan restaurants before, I was excited. My expectations were not only met, but surpassed! Our server, Bawin, was very welcoming and mindful as we were exploring the menu and talking about what to eat. He really helped with my curious questions and can’t even lie that everything that we ate was delicious! My fiancé is gluten-free and they were very accommodating for a lot of the menu items. I am not gluten free and ordered the pan fried Beef Momo (Bawin’s recommendation) which were incredibly juicy and delicious. The curry-like dipping sauce was a perfect sauce that only added to the dish. We ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Chili Beef, and Phaktsee (all gluten free so she could indulge). Chicken fried rice was incredibly delicious and surprisingly light given the flavor and description. The Chili Beef sounds spicy but was a light heat with great flavor. Phaktsee was the star entree dish with the deep garlic, oniony flavor with rich pork sauce that the white rice helped cut through. I ordered the Butter Tea and I did enjoy the unique flavor, but admit it may not be for everyone. Overall, this restaurant is fantastic and we are so glad that we’re just a 10 minute walk away to a gem in the Manayunk area that we can hopefully share with friends and relatives. Do not hesitate to come if you’re looking for a great meal and want to try Tibetan food!
