- JLJohn Luczkowski6 days ago4.0As someone who grew up in Philadelphia, worked at various delis and grocery stores in high school and college, I applaud Giant for opening up stores like this one in the city limits, especially in Center City. While Giant isn't the cheapest local chain, it's a better selection than Acme, more down to earth than national competitors like "trade my community and local food for the feeling of being cool or "hip" Joe's or Whole Paycheck. This was a good site selection and Giant seems to do its best to keep this as a showcase location. Of course, it's not perfect - you can't find hardworking people, especially under 22, for $10-$15 an hour and the checkout is always backed up and the customers are oblivious to their surroundings, but some of that is just cultural. Overall, one of the best supermarkets in Center City.
