After you walk over the two people sleeping in the middle of the sidewalk, there will always be at least one or more people standing directly at the door asking for money or food. After I told one I couldn't buy him $100+ sneakers from a nearby shop, he assaulted me. I've started going to Elixir around the corner to avoid the any more confrontations.
