Today I visited Acme around 1:30 PM, which is earlier than I usually go. I came in to pick up a few items and head to the self-checkout, as I normally do, especially when I have fewer than 15 items. While walking through the aisles, I noticed many areas were disorganized or being restocked, but I continued shopping as usual.
When I arrived at self-checkout, I began scanning my items when an older Black female employee approached me and asked me to move to Register 1. Before I could ask why, she started pulling my cart toward the register. Her tone and actions felt very passive-aggressive and pushy. I moved to the register because I assumed there might be a system change or some reason I wasn’t aware of.
However, on my way out, I noticed other customers using self-checkout freely, some with more items than I had. I prefer self-checkout for a few reasons—bagging my groceries the way I like, scanning at my own pace, and sometimes doing separate transactions. Being forced to leave self-checkout without any explanation felt rude and unnecessary.
I would appreciate clarification on whether there is a new rule regarding self-checkout use. If not, I hope employees can be reminded to clearly and respectfully communicate with customers.

The location is typically clean and well organized. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Acme has never been a competitively priced market, it is consistently more expensive that it’s competitors but the location is conveniently on my way home from work. The shopping experience is typically enjoyable. However on several occasions during self check out while I am gathering my card to pay this young female employee approaches the station without even acknowledging me and starts selecting things on the device. Not only is it rude, but the last time I noticed she was submitting FALSE customer surveys. It seems to be the practice to check all the high marks to make it appear as if customers are submitting them. It is specifically this employee doing it… not customers! I will not be returning. This along with the higher prices has left me no longer willing to shop here at all.

My local Acme ♥️ They're pretty cool. I shop there when i need groceries and the checkout lady always remembers me and is always in good spirits. They're helpful and the parking is always phenomenal! Oh! Good lottery tickets too! One night i had a $30 winner, I scanned it, grabbed $10 in tickets and left the voucher in the machine like a dummy. I remembered quickly, but it was hone by the time I went back in. I got home, scratched the tickets I bought and won $100!! So, I'm sure whoever ended up with that $30, needed it, and I still took home a nice little chunk of $ too! 😅
