The best South Indian restaurant I have ever been to in the east coast. Authentic cuisine with scrumptious flavor, some dishes with other fusion, the interior design is inviting and pleasant, and above all the service with kind and smile is amazing. A definite recommendation to go, and once you go here once, repeats is not surprising.

Super Delayed Order Delivery/ No complaints about food quality or flavors. 07April2026-I ordered food online around 5 pm for it to be ready to be picked up by 8 pm. I show up at 7:45 pm and I'm being told just a few more minutes everytime I ask, but the delivery was not handed to me until 8.53pm, over an hour wait after showing up for an order that was placed more than 4 hours ago is certainly disrespectful I do have to commend the politeness of the wait staff and the quality and flavor of food, if definitely exceeded my expectations as always. Specifically, one of the female wait staff let me use a quite corner of restaurant to take an official call from there, since I was going to be late getting back home due to delay in delivery I'm definitely someone who enjoys Amma's food and I really hope this incidence was one off but also something they could reflect on.

The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the chicken curry, which came with only three small pieces of chicken but an overwhelming seven pieces of potatoes in a bowl of sauce. Unfortunately, the other entrées at our table were similar, each containing just a few pieces of meat. The service was equally disappointing. Our server rarely checked on us, despite the restaurant not being busy, and seemed unprepared to properly address our needs. We made reservations before we came to make sure they were able to accommodate our arrival. The atmosphere also left much to be desired. The restaurant was uncomfortably dark, and the situation became unacceptable when a centipede crawled out from behind the booth and nearly onto my daughter’s face while she was eating. To make matters worse, no accommodations or discounts were offered in response to this incident. Overall, my experience was extremely poor—2 out of 10. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Food: we ordered the Idly vada sambar, Amma Special dosa, and onion rava masala dosa. The food was very good. I would say the best south Indian food I've had in a very long time. Service: the staff was very friendly and nice. Atmosphere: overall was a very nice place, clean and felt modern. It was not your usual south Indian restaurant but felt more upscale. If you are in the Philly area would highly recommend a visit. Liked it so much we also went there on our last day of the trip.

We had lunch at Amma’s and loved it. Finding a table was easy at 1:30 PM on a Saturday, and the host was quick to get us started with drinks and take our order—just what you need on a hot day. Menu is rich, and the thali is perfect for those who enjoy traditional banana leaf meals. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for close-to-authentic South Indian meals. Overall hygiene standards are good. Tables were clean, and so were the washrooms. The place smelled pleasant, and the air felt refreshing. There’s ample roadside parking on the adjacent streets. What deserves a special mention? The food is good—much better than the options we have explored in the northern part of the country. There’s also a well-stocked bar with great cocktails. What could be better? Nothing for now. Will definitely revisit and update.
