This quaint little pizza place in Essington offers decent service, and I wish I could say more positive things about this family-owned business, but that's about where the praise ends. The food would make a school cafeteria look gourmet by comparison: the fries resembled all the burnt scraps from the bottom of the tray, my wife's pizza was lackluster and overcooked with minimal cheese, and my stromboli was rock-hard—literally just a dense roll of bread with scant cheese and meat inside. The $2 side of marinara was the only thing that made it edible. Extremely disappointing for a $20 stromboli.

It is pretty awesome to be able to get the original Stromboli as invented in the 1950s. The place has lots of memorabilia and such about the famous people who have dined there. The owners greeted the guests and they have a compilation video about all the times they are featured on TV. It is casual dining like a pizza parlor not fancy.

We were here for a group lunch and everything was great. Food was awesome as well as the service. Kelley was so friendly and service was great. My mom had worked at Romanos for 30+ years and it will always be a special place for our family.

Kelley greeted us with warmth and then did a fantastic job of serving us throughout the meal. We feasted on strombolis, the spinach and the sweet original, which we were told we could split between two people. Kelley was right about that! The food was delicious, but the best part of the meal was that we were there at the same time as a large group of 8th grade students from Delaware County Christian school, who were there to hear from the owner. Pete Romano, about his grandfather who had immigrated from Italy 90 years ago without a penny in his pocket. He sold "tomato pies" from a handcart, then opened a restaurant, and was actually the inventor of the stromboli. We had the chance to learn a little history, and have a wonderful meal.
