My fiancé and I recently visited Dave & Buster’s for the first time to celebrate a friend’s 21st birthday with a group of six. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by subpar service. Initially, our waitress, Katlynn, was attentive, taking our drink and entree orders. We had opted for the Valentine’s deal, which included two unlimited play cards, two entrees, an appetizer, and a dessert for $100 per pair.
However, after our meals arrived, Katlynn was nowhere to be found, necessitating multiple trips to the bar for service. Our table remained cluttered with dirty dishes throughout the meal. When Katlynn finally returned, she asked us to review our receipts. She was impatient, standing over us and attempting to snatch the receipt from my fiancé’s hand. Our friend encountered an issue with drink pricing, which Katlynn dismissed with a dismissive “it’s just one drink” and an eye roll.
Initially, I was presented with a receipt totaling $250, despite ordering drinks during happy hour. The subsequent receipts provided to my friends and me contained numerous errors. The happy hour drink prices were charged at regular rates, and a 20% gratuity for a large group was added, despite our group not meeting the policy requirements.
We sought assistance from the manager, Dean, to address these issues, including the lack of attentiveness, missing desserts, uncleared tables, and incorrect receipts. Dean focused solely on the desserts and was dismissive of our other concerns. After consuming our desserts, we had to approach him again to rectify the receipts. He insisted they were accurate and claimed we ordered drinks after happy hour. We offered to review the security footage to confirm our order times, as we were certain we had not ordered after happy hour ended. We also requested the removal of the gratuity.
Throughout this process, Katlynn continued to exhibit an unprofessional attitude. After much deliberation, my final receipt was adjusted to $183, this was $67 less than the original receipt I received. The issue should have been resolved correctly the first time, not after multiple attempts and certainly not with attitude from the employees.
Despite this bad experience, we still were able to have a lot of fun playing in the arcade.
