⭐️ (1 Star) - Formal Complaint: Store #536 - Attn: Benny Quintanilla I am posting this to formally document a failure in store operations and a serious incident of employee misconduct on Dec 12, 2025. I was at this store to buy a cake for my brother’s birthday, but the interaction was so aggressive it ruined the mood of our family celebration before it even started. The Incident: The bakery display case is designed with outward-facing doors for customer access. With no "Closed" signs or instructions to wait for help, I retrieved a cake from the customer-side aisle. I never entered an employee-only area. The Confrontation: Upon reaching the checkout, the cashier, Dannielle, initiated a direct and hostile confrontation with me. She was visibly "pissed" and became verbally aggressive simply because she had to retrieve a box for the cake. Instead of professional service, she chose to treat me as an adversary. Liability and Management Concerns: Hostile Environment: Dannielle’s decision to engage in a confrontation is a significant liability for Safeway. This was not just "bad service"; it was unprofessional aggression. Operational Negligence: As Store Director, Benny Quintanilla, the responsibility for clear signage lies with you. Expecting customers to guess unwritten rules for accessible equipment is a management failure that creates unnecessary conflict. Failure of Oversight: This hostile behavior is a recurring theme in this store’s reviews. A lack of corrective action regarding Dannielle’s conduct suggests a disregard for the standard of care expected of a major retailer. Families deserve to shop without being subjected to staff hostility. I am requesting a formal review of this incident and immediate improvements to bakery signage and staff training.

Honestly if I could choose no stars I would. Whatever employee you had Closing and locking the doors at 6:40pm tonight, 20 minutes before closing, needs to have her employment reconsidered. I have never witnessed someone be so incredibly disrespectful and rude to a group of people asking questions, and for literally no reason. She was forcing people out and when they asked why she was Closing the doors 20 minutes early her response was, and I quote, "I don't care, get out." As she physically shoo'd people out the doors. I am appalled by this woman's behavior towards people she doesnt even know, let alone on christmas eve. There is no excuse to treat people that way or to speak to them the way she did. I didn't get her name but she was a blonde gal in all black. Absolutely horrendous behavior by your employee. She needs to work on proper customer service, but above all, basic human decency.

This store is so beautiful! Everything is presented in such a lovely way! Everything is easy to find. The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Shopping here isn't a chore, it's an experience! Shopping their weekly deals can save you money and the points are great for redeeming free items, cash off, or gas discounts. Also, a great pharmacy! This is my store! 😀

Alright, I have been avoiding the Safeway in Troutdale for about five years now. I only go in when every other grocery store within a fifty mile radius has burned to the ground. And after today, I am officially done. I am writing the review I should have written years ago. First off, the app. This app is the clunkiest, most inaccurate piece of nonsense ever created. If you do not use the app, Safeway basically taxes you for existing. You look at the shelf and you have three different prices staring at you. Regular price, club price, digital price, maybe a “Just for You” thing thrown in like a participation ribbon. And you’re standing there thinking, am I buying cereal or trying to solve a math puzzle from Saw. Then you get to the register and mention that the price rang up wrong and boom, here comes the attitude. The sigh, the side eye, the whole “I guess you don’t understand our system” tone. Yeah, because your system was designed by someone who hates people. Next disaster: the layout. Whoever designed this place must have been inspired by hamster mazes. Once you’re in the main section, you cannot escape unless you squeeze through a cashier lane or shoulder check your way past the self checkout crowd, then you still have to do through another alarmed security gate and employee/guard/TSA worker?? It’s like they built the store to trap you so you’ll stay longer and buy more things you don’t want. And then I made the mistake of going to the pharmacy. I went to pick up a prescription for a family member. The woman at the counter could not have been less interested in being alive. No smile, no “how’s your day,” nothing. Just a blank stare that said “I have given up.” The line behind me looked like they had all aged twenty years waiting for her. They couldn’t find the insurance info, which happens sometimes, fine. But instead of telling me the cash price was under ten bucks which I would have paid instantly just to get the hell out of there she just stared at me like we were in a hostage negotiation. There is a reason I treat this Safeway like a natural disaster zone. I avoid it, I warn friends about it, and after today, I hope people read this and do the same. Troutdale has options. Use them. Let this place figure out its attitude, its app, and its escape routes, because right now, this store is a public service announcement for why people buy groceries online.
