Food arrived properly packaged and still warm. Loco moco portion was big and with good tasting gravy and macaroni salad. The shrimp Benedict had three plump crunchy shrimps for each English muffin slice, came with "tartar tasting" sauce on the side and country potatoes. A big delicious cinnamon roll was substituted when they were out of bread pudding. Very satisfied with Acme Cafe, will definitely order again.
You will be told to wait in the lobby, and then you will be ignored and other customers will skip the line and get service as soon as they walk in.
Acme is hands down the best breakfast spot in Salem! The menu has so many great choices that there’s truly something for everyone, and everything comes out fresh and delicious. The staff are welcoming and attentive, creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes you want to stay and enjoy every bite. What really sets this place apart is the heart behind it — Jess and his family run Acme with genuine warmth and care, and it shows in every detail. Great people, great food, and a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

It was an interesting experience. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming, but more than anything the service was meh. Server gave us our check not even 10 minutes after serving us our food. Mind you they were not busy. The server also forgot to write down a very simple request that we had (Sub pepper gravy for sausage gravy). Not once did our server check in to see if we needed anything, not even water. They just seemed completely uninterested. We just felt like we didn’t belong. Could be that my partner and I are people of color.
But I will say the food was great, and the strawberry margarita was good as well. And it is a cute spot.

I’ve wanted to eat here for several years. I live a quarter mile away and after finally going for my favorite breakfast meal, country fried steak (to-go for medical reasons), all I can say is I am disappointed in myself for not going sooner!
This place is perfect. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff friendly and courteous, and the food.. OMG.. 🤤 🤤 🤤. My country fried steak was tender and flavorful; the breading crispy but not at all overcooked, with a perfect balance of herbs. The country gravy was peppery and had the flavor profile all sausage gravy lovers crave.
My over medium eggs were delicious, whites cooked perfectly with yolks that burst and hit my taste buds with an explosion of flavor. The potatoes were crispy and complimented by fried onions. This was delicious but also the only thing I might add a little more seasoning to in future. Maybe some cajun spices?
The biscuits.. (which one thing I’ve come to love in the US has been biscuits and gravy, and I bought an extra side of sausage gravy for just that), I buttered them lightly before smothering in the gravy, were soft and fluffy; but with a masterfully cooked firm crust with that little crisp to it that adds some contrast to the texture of each bite.
I know this is excessively long, but I just want to add it’s because I was genuinely just incredibly happy with the service, the quality of the food, and my overall experience. I can’t wait to come and try so much more of the menu!
