What has happened to this place? It never was a standout in the Safeway franchise, but this store has really gone downhill lately. The shelves are poorly stocked and they seem to be out of a lot of the items they normally have. It looks like they are struggling. Fred Meyer shelves are still fully stocked. What's up with this place? Have the corporate masters decided to let this store whither and die? That's the way it appears based on the drastic changes recently. It's become too frustrating to shop here. The ribs I have on the Traeger right now are from Costco. Less the half the price and twice the quality of Safeway. With the large population growth in the last 5-6 years in St.Helens, the relevance of this sad Safeway continues to decline. It seems especially odd because combined with the building next door (the dead Rite Aid) and a complete renovation, this could be the flagship store that the growing city of St. Helens deserves. If some forward thinking people with Safeway/Albertsons were paying attention, they wouldn't miss the obvious opportunity. Invest in this location soon, or continue to suffer a slow, painful, continuous decline.

If you work somewhere that has a scheduled time to be open. Do your job and keep to the time you say your open. The lazy workers at Safeway closed 10 mins early. If your so tired maybe get a different job.

The last three times I have visited this store, it is a huge wait to check out. The other day I went to buy one item with cash, none of the six self checkouts accept cash and there was one cashier. I waited over twenty min to check out. Today I went in at 10 pm. All self checkout closed. There was 10+ people waiting in line to checkout and one cashier. I set my items down and left. I give up on this store. I should not have to wait a half hour plus to pay. Not shopping here any more.

Good selection, nice employees. Unfortunately, their pickup experience is absolutely the worst of all the Safeway stores we visit. Clatskanie is fast, Longview 15th is fast, Astoria is fast, this location is slowww. We depend on groceries being ready by a specific time when my wife is on her way home to Clatskanie from Portland - even when they have had all day to shop for an order, and she gets there 2 hours after the end of the expected order fulfillment time, they usually still haven't even started shopping for the order. Sometimes we need to order from this location as they have items our local Safeway does not have, but lately we've had to cancel orders because of ridiculous delays. Since pickup is how we do our grocery shopping from this location, they don't get more than 1 star.
